Fundamental changes to our society like widespread adoption of AI or mandatory ID cards, should obviously be subject to public debate and ultimately a referendum. Short of that, these are things nobody voted for being forced upon us by a govt in the pocket of tech bros and tony blair.

The thought process of "we should be patriotic about the *good* things in England/Britain/the UK" is lazy.

It ignores the fact that those "good things" are built on the bodies of millions of global majority people.

It ignores the fact that some of those good things are a myth to begin with.
