We asked a doctor whether we should have our son circumcised because his father had problems from childhood with a non retracting foreskin. The doctor said definitely NOT to do it unless & until it proved to be medically necessary. So even with a family risk, it’s not advised by UK doctors, in fact.

1. A new journal report in the prestigious Medical Journal of Australia eviscerates the Cass review, saying it is filled with fallacies and launders anti-trans disinformation.

It methodically goes through each problem in the review.

The latest from S. Baum.

New Journal Report: Cass Review “Echoes Fallacies Promoted By Anti-Trans Disinformation”
While American lawyers pushed the anti-trans Cass Review this week, Australia’s top scholars rebuked it.

I love this.

‘When Polanski countered that defining gender is "not the Supreme Court’s job," Morgan interrupted: "To lay down the law of the land. So you know more than the Supreme Court?"
Standing his ground, Polanski claimed: "Yes actually, in this case yes I do.”’

This is an amazing defence of trans people against one of the country’s worst transphobic bigots by @zackpolanski.bsky.social

Yikes, this seems horribly unfair. (And, to be honest, probably not what she signed up expecting when she volunteered to stand for election. You don’t expect to be dragged through the mud by a resentful loser.)
pennicat.bsky.social
Nope, they weren’t. I forgot to even mention that bit. it was sodding oral sex. I am not impressed with the transphobic judge either, who made some terrible comments. May he not smell roses without smelling fertiliser ever again.

If anyone doubted that the BBC is deliberately not covering the Russian/Reform bribery scandal, those doubts should have been removed by Fiona Bruce interrupting to prevent it being discussed on BBC Question time last night. #BBCQT

Failure to disclose anything else is fine. You could even ask “what if she had uncontrolled HIV and didn’t want to disclose in case it put him off?” As long as he didn’t actually get HIV, that’s fine too. You can even lie, if you’re a bloke, about having had a vasectomy. This law is just anti-trans.

Fucks sake. If you have unprotected sex with someone with a serious transmissible STI that they know about and don’t tell you about, that’s not illegal on their part unless you catch it. But sex with a trans person (trans isn’t catching btw)…much worse than risking serious illness, clearly.

Tbh that’s better than him genuinely studying small boys’ genitalia being operated on for no apparent reason since it has nothing to do with anything he should be doing…

Otoh, I was also probably about the only 20y.o. Who made their dad a cannabis cake for Christmas because my parents had managed to get through the 60s without doing drugs and it seemed a bit scandalous. (They knew all their daughters had taken weed at some point.) So I’m maybe a weird data point.
pennicat.bsky.social
I didn’t smoke in front of my kid, but he didnt get the normal “drugs are bad” speech. He got “weed is pretty chill, otoh mixing it with alcohol might make you feel sicker than usual if you drink too much so be warned…”
He’s about the only 20 y.o. he knows who hasn’t done it.

I resigned from Trump's DOJ in Feb when I was pressured to drop NYC Mayor Adams' case.

NOTUS reports that since Trump took office, my section, Public Integrity, went from 36 people investigating public corruption to TWO.

Who benefits? Corrupt politicians.

Honestly, I could help people through various things over the phone after I’d been there a while. They’d phone up with a printer issue and my heart would sink. I’d have a whole rotation of things to try and I *knew* they wouldn’t work because - well, see above.
pennicat.bsky.social
Hail Satan? He and his minions are definitely responsible for printers, in the same way you have patron saints of other things. You have a patron devil of printers… :)
pennicat.bsky.social
I mean, apart from the time I more or less called the VC of my university an idiot because the reason his computer now wasn’t printing was “because you tried to rip a page out of it while it was still printing, Vice-Chancellor”.
(“That wasn’t a very clever idea,” I think I said with autistic tact.)
pennicat.bsky.social
I used to work on a computing helpdesk, and I’d regularly get the, “why isn’t my printer working?” question. my answer tended to be, “because printers are the epitome of evil.”
(“Is that a technical term?” “Very much yes.”)
neongrey.bsky.social
all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

Half of Scotland's land is owned by less than 1% of the people. We have some of the most unequal land distribution in Europe!

It's time to curb the power of super rich land hoarders and start giving ordinary Scots and communities new opportunities.

Turns out that blacksky is open to anyone, but they have one soecific server which is set up specifically for black users.
I’m not going to mess people around jumping over again rn though. I’ll keep hoping Northsky sets up soon.

i'm not an expert on the topic, but, based on this, it appears open to anyone.

the ceo of blacksky, @rude1.blacksky.team , has been very clear that the application and the PDS are open for anyone trying to leave bluesky

the blacksky feed and blacksky.app will always remain exclusively for black users, however

thanks for asking!
pennicat.bsky.social
Oh, thanks both. Bother, I could have had that account. Damn it. Oh well, I’d better not mess people around further by reopening it. I’ll wait for Northsky now, and hope it’s soon. I will however correct what I claimed on my TL though! Thanks again!

The men’s game is so far behind the women’s game it’s ridiculous. The women’s game has a pointless transphobia problem (aimed at a tiny number) and the men’s a shocking homophobia one (allegedly aimed only at one pro footballer, but yeaaaah…)

As I understand it, you’re not really supposed to if you’re not black, it’s made for the black community to have their own space? There was certainly a recent comment to that effect, which is why I deleted my account there.
