We understand that you’re sorry for what your government is doing to former friends and allies.

Unfortunately that’s sounds to us a lot like “thoughts and prayers” after a mass shooting.

We would much rather you do something than be sorry.

Lowell Green was a racist demagogue who used his CFRA radio show as a soapbox to rant about immigrants and target racialized communities in Ottawa

Contrary to Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe's eulogy here, Lowell wasn't proud of Canada – he wrote an entire book about how it wasn't white enough for him

It's great to live in a country (Canada, Japan, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, etc.) where citizens don't worry about if the next election will be canceled, if they will be allowed to register to vote, if they will have to stand in line for hours to vote, or if their vote will be counted.

I’m proud of our common inheritance of ordered liberty and our heritage of killing Nazis when necessary.
If you think there’s NOTHING in our heritage (or in any nation’s) to be unapologetic about, you’re a fool. A dangerous fool.

The other thing about defence exports is if you want to make money and keep the industries at peak level, who are you selling to? Probably many thoroughly awful regimes who use Canadian weapons against civilians.
Super glad there isn't an extensive body of evidence showing that outside of R&D investments, increased military spending is at best neutral and at worse actively harms economic growth

Of course it’s not a threat at all, under any interpretation, LET ALONE a true threat outside First Amendment protection, but I guess some of these people have a lot on their conscience about supporting a pedophile and tend to blurt it out.
Oh look, another confession from maga.

it’s not too hard to understand the distinction between “that’s not who we are (aspirational)” and “that’s not who we are (historical)” especially when the latter is often worst-case historical; see also Langston Hughes on America
notice that in the video quoted here the person who said he is engaging in protest for the first time in his life says, with emotion, “that’s not who we are,” in reference to ICE terrorizing grade schoolers.

think about this person every time you see someone scolding someone else for saying that
In 1854, after watching the federal government deploy 2000 federal troops and spend $40,000 sending Anthony Burns back into slavery, Boston's Amos Adams Lawrence said “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.”

Regulations are what keeps ordinary Americans healthy and, often, alive.

It took spoiled meat and rodent droppings out of our food. It took harmful lead out of our gasoline and paint. It took poison out of our water.

Deregulation only achieves one goal: making rich corporations richer.

This seems to be where most of the reporting is at now: DoD loaned a cutting-edge laser weapon to CBP which apparently mis-used it to shoot down something harmless, and WH is clamping down on official info about it.

My Q: why is the Pentagon ‘loaning’ cutting edge weapons to Border Patrol?
