JUDGE SCHLITZ: “This Court has been extremely patient with respondents, even though respondents decided to send thousands of agents to Minnesota to detain aliens without making any provision for dealing with the hundreds of habeas petitions .. that were sure to result”

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

The public pressure on the Trump regime is working. Here he is trying to say he's working with Tim Walz

They must have private polling that is absolutely horrible.

The people of Minnesota are doing this. Thank you for your courage!

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

It was literally founded on rebellion. Against tyranny. This isn’t hard.
Attorney General Pam Bondi: "Our country was founded on law enforcement"
Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

The era is aptly defined by this, up against “boo hoo” and “fucking bitch”
I keep thinking about this fact that his last words were are you okay and hers were I'm not mad at you and it feels like a weird coincidence but it's just a reflection of the fact that the people who are coming out to take care of their neighbors are good and the people who are after them are bad
His dying words were asking about the safety of someone next to him

As JD Vance starts trying to play "nice Gestapo" to Steven Miller's "mean Gestapo," it's worth emphasizing that what's happening in Minnesota is a direct descendant of Vance's knowingly false racist demagoguery during the campaign. "Somalis are low-IQ thieves" is "Haitians are eating your pets."

This witness to Alex Pretti's murder not only refutes the governmen't story, but says she is afraid to go home because federal agents might arrest her. This is what it feels like to live under state terror.

DA Bregman: If ICE comes in without a warrant, without reasonable suspicion, without probable cause, that is false imprisonment in New Mexico. You can’t confine, restrain, or detain someone without proper legal authority to do so. And there’s no exception for law enforcement.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Journalists need to ask, “What made Pettri a ‘suspect’?” He was ‘seized’ under the meaning of the Fourth Amendment, which requires *probable cause that he was committing a crime*

MAKE THEM ARTICULATE THE BASIS FOR THE SEIZURE
BASH: Where did he assault an officer? It looked to us that he was approached by them when he was helping another individual who was pushed down

BOVINO: We don't need a suspect's help in a law enforcement scene

BASH: So when somebody is pushed down, you stand back?

BOVINO: Follow directions

Murphy says Trump wants to trade ICE "murder and mayhem" for control of Minnesota's election. He also says yeah, that may sound conspiratorial but Pam Bondi's letter to Walz spells it out.
Murphy: "It's always been the fear & now is closer to the reality that the Trump admin is creating this mayhem, particularly in cities in swing states, to take control of elections. They're trying to trade the presence of ICE & the murder & mayhem they are causing for control of MN's elections"

If you’re looking to understand who Alex Pretti was, look no further than this video where he honors a veteran who has passed away.

He was not a domestic terrorist.

He was a good man and a hero.

It’s crucial that networks with Sunday morning shows not let Republicans lie about what happened today. Interrupt them, cut their mics, cut away. It’s reckless and inaccurate to let them spin a murder. The video is clear. I don’t expect this to happen, but the journalistic imperative is clear.
