Sales shout-out to Labyrinth Of Galleria. Lowest price ever. A Wizardry-style dungeon crawl by the Disgaea team, which means it is an absurd, maximalist monster with unhinged mechanics (kick down walls!) and you can have a 40-character party.

Also runs amazing/low-battery drain on the Steam Deck!

A new wrinkle in Roomba Quest lore as the company behind the roombas goes bankrupt:
news.bloomberglaw.com/bankruptcy-l...

(I guess they couldn't last much longer after roomba had been teleported to the end of the universe.)
Roomba Maker iRobot Files for Bankruptcy and Will Go Private (1)
iRobot Corp., the company that revolutionized robot vacuum cleaners in the early 2000s with its Roomba model, filed for bankruptcy and proposed handing over control to its main Chinese supplier.

Picked up ADOM on the Switch 2 but the controls don't work :(

You have to hold down d-pad directions for half a second or press them twice for it to register. The analogue joystick is similarly unreliable.

Nintendo make refunds on Switch near impossible, so you've been warned.

1st hour of Switch 2 notes:

* Default storage seems kind of large. Maybe I'm just used to Apple ripping me off.

* Can view trailers in the shop without stalling the device (a new feature). Shame no one shows gameplay.

* Demon's Tilt plays so much better (and it already ran fine on Switch 1).

This is really worth reading across the board, but I want to should out @modality.bsky.social's Thargol, one of the most Michael-like and elegant pieces of game design ever implemented. No wonder the Modality Rule is named after him! (pp 62-63 in the book)

So does Tarantino really not like Paul Dano, or did he just see Ruby Sparks and that's poisoned everything for him? Because I could totally understand that.

you can't dissect a frog, take its heart out and say, this is the part that defines frog-ness. everything else is an appendix.

in the same sense, you can't dissect an art form, take one feature of it and says THIS IS THE ART. every one of its organs evolved in concert to keep the thing alive.

It's Demeo X D&D time.

This has to be the clunkiest way to talk to NPCs in what is ostensibly* a downtime map (characters take turns - 2 actions a piece), but I prefer it to Sunderfolk's "choose 3 Twine games to play".

*Putting on my game review hat.

The Hero Quest-like-a-thon continues with Arcane Quest HD.

It’s… literally Hero Quest, but more gear, spells, classes, and dungeons. I’m willing to forgive the movement dice for the commitment to the bit.

Wee bit janky, but nothing that’s a deal breaker. Quite fun so far. Free demo too.

Another Hero Quest-like: Dungeons and Dragons Battlemarked.

It streamlines much of D&D into 2 cards per character-turn, gaining cards as loot and burning them to level up. I really like what's going on here with big maps to explore, synergies, and little skill checks here and there.

Solo-ing Sunderfolk's campaign with just 2 characters is quite fun.

The choice of barbarian and wizard counts for a lot because if I wasn't able to teleport / throw people off the map I'd be stuck.

Maybe when they get one-shot mode in I'll be able to convince some one else to join for a session.

Is it something specifically wrong with me or does anyone else experience the animated subtitles in TikTok videos as eye-poison?

I literally cannot look at the flashing text. I feel like I'm about to have a fit or something.

I have played Ghostlore to level 15 (multiclassing). It is... good!

Some visual feedback issues (easy to get one-shot, why is the background the same saturation as characters). Otherwise I agree with Seer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ifX...

And it's 40% off on Steam for the next 23hrs.
