From my latest NatGeo piece: “Worries about the longevity of EV batteries are also unfounded. Only 1% of batteries manufactured since 2015 have had to be replaced.” I’m loving my Hyundai Ioniq 6! www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/... FYI @billmckibben.bsky.social @katharinehayhoe.com

what this should make clear to everyone in this country is that it does not matter who you are, there's no "it could never happen to me"

you can be a white woman who drives around with stuffed animals in her car, and they will still kill you in cold blood and call you a domestic terrorist
The murdered woman's glove compartment is filled with stuffed animals.

When they ask “why don’t we protest like the French?”, this is why. Because they shoot us in the head for absolutely no reason and get away with it by making excuses. This country is rotten and I am sick to my stomach.

Any one of us could be shot or kidnapped because an ICE agent doesn’t like the look of us. Are you prepared to be murdered in cold blood while “news” sources repeat the claim you were “weaponizing your vehicle” trying to leave your driveway? They want you to accept that. They want to make it normal

And that's even aside from the CSAM side of things, which in a sane world would have shut the entire website down immediately and sent a whole lot of people to jail

Non-consensual image creation / "deep-fake porn" has been a problem for a while that the legal system has only just begun to grapple with but part of what makes the Grok thing much worse is that it's delivered instantly & directly into replies to punish women for publicly speaking or even existing.
X basically industrialized the creation of fake porn of women who don't consent. Others did it first, but Grok made it normalized and centralized: publicly visible, instantly creatable by anyone, regardless of who's being targeted and dehumanized. Only question now is will X suffer any consequences

So yes, to put a bow on this series of posts, I am suggesting you are being lied to and you are believing those lies. You are exactly the kind of person I want to speak to in this video.

We have the opportunity to transition from an extractive energy paradigm to an energy harvest. We should do it.

It's now the month of the Snorse.

Amazing to live in a country where every day you can watch Republicans gin up issue salience out of nothing but attitude and 4chan posts and a sizeable chunk of people think Democrats' only power is to vote yes or no on bills placed in front of them

Met a 15-year-old who had no interest in science and was convinced she couldn't do math. Convinced her to take my Astronomy class. Last year she graduated summa cum laude in Astrophysics and she credits me with that probably more than is accurate.
Tell me something cool about your job!!!!
Hm, I could post about my job, of which I'm probably sole representative on this platform, but literally no one outside cares.
We do have some archaeology (adjacent field) on here, which is pretty cool.

OK! So, all museums and galleries have environmental standards (how warm/cold/humid it should be inside where the artworks are). The fun fact is that these were set almost entirely on vibes and now we are working hard to actually see if we really have to maintain such strict conditions.

But otherwise I mostly agree. Finales are hard and when the show is as wildly successful as this one, the writers are often given that much more rope to hang themselves. That said, I overall enjoyed it and while I wasn't wowed, there were no parts I really disliked, either. Which is enough for me.

Pulled back a rubber band to shoot a friend. Rubber band broke, thumb went into my eye, and my vision in that eye started turning white. Had to be on meds for weeks.

I was 26 at the time.
