one song that has played twice now has the chorus “i’ll get okay, no tears, just whiskey and truck cars” and i’m thinking of just walking toward the light and letting the universe scatter my electrons

I will repeat til the end of time, the Vonnegut quote from MOTHER NIGHT:

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be very careful what we pretend to be.
Friends,

If I have never communicated with you before about anything ever,

And your first communication with me about anything ever is extremely troll-like,

My first thought is going to be "that's a troll," not "that person is on my side but is cleverly perfectly satirizing a troll"

Why was everyone in *Civilisations: Rise and Fall* dressed like they were in a 1950s Hollywood epic?

Stilicho looked like Richard Burton in *The Robe* with muscled cuirass and pointless wrist guards rather than in long sleeved tunic and big chonky brooch

Who was the historical advisor on this? 😱😱

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.

I have been trying for a while to get back again and see the Harlequin Duck. Although he has become a little more erratic in his appearances, it is really worth the effort. The moult is advancing rapidly and he is looking stunning, I am really hoping he sticks about for the winter.

Excellent thread. My sister has a Motability car and it's really helped her so much. She'd rarely go out otherwise.
Rachel Reeves says she’s ending “Motability tax breaks”.
Sounds like she’s cracking down on luxury cars, right?

That’s not what’s happening.

These changes raise costs for all disabled people on the scheme, including those with the cheapest cars.

Here’s how. 👇🧵

Trial by jury is a central tenet of our justice system. I believe the courts have an 80,000 case backlog. The answer to that is not to remove justice from the accused, but to increase the number of courts either temporarily or permanently. Also, don't forget that legal aid was slashed

Vessels such as this one were used in drinking parties. Since they didn't have a base, the content had to be consumed before the vessel could be put down

This is fucking horrific. Trial by jury is a fundamental part of our justice system.
Wonderful. Now Labour plan to "destroy justice as we know it".

Anything else they're going to wreck on their way out of office?

Remember: it is ALWAYS much easier to break things than to restore them. So their reckless legacy will linger long after they're gone.
