Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Wow, thanks, "Malcolm Gladwell," I definitely believe you want to do a feature on The Ink Witch based on your rapturous appreciation of several early plot elements mentioned in the book's blurb. And I'm sure if I replied you wouldn't cheapen things by raising the sordid issue of payment, would you?

I just finished Good Old-Fashioned Korean Spirit by Kim Hyun Sook and @ryanestrada.com! If you loved Banned Book Club, you should read this! (If you haven't read Banned Book Club, it'll still make sense--it's a different story with some of the same characters.)

I just read Zed Moonstein Makes a Friend by @lancerubinparty.bsky.social because you know I have to read anything with robots and AIs in it. A kid uses an experimental app to generate an AI friend which goes badly wrong. It's unfortunately very timely! #kid #middlegrade

One modern thing that gets me cranky is the phenomenon of making random changes and referring to it as a "refresh." It's never an improvement, or they could call it an improvement. It's just screwing with what you're used to for the sake of it, all packaged with a gross buzzword.

This was such a cool project and I'm really proud to have art in this incredible book with so much amazing art and writing! Was amazed when Brian told me that my pictish byrehouse illustration would be one of less than five detailed depictions in existence!

New from 404 Media: people are 3D-printing whistles to warn each other about the presence of ICE. Some people make designs and upload them; others are given a design and are printing hundreds and hundreds of whistles at home. It's been effective in Chicago

The Latest Defense Against ICE: 3D-Printed Whistles
Chicagoans are making, sharing, and printing designs for whistles that can warn people when ICE is in the area. The goal is to “prevent as many people from being kidnapped as possible.”

You Gotta Eat by @margareteby.bsky.social. This is amazing! A cookbook for very simple recipes that take almost no time or money but still feel like a finished meal. Everyone should just be issued this in their teens. It has opened my eyes to the possibilities of bean salad.

Rodeo Hawkins and the Daughters of Mayhem by John Claude Bemis and @nicolemillo.bsky.social (middle grade graphic novel.) A wild multiverse adventure about rebel kids taking on morally compromised paladins; the art and the tech/magic mix give it a bit of a Nimona vibe. Read it!

My phone has these obnoxious text auto-response prompts which you can't turn off, and it's awful. Except! I discovered that they go away if you swear. So now I have to swear in every conversation to drive them off, like a superstitious peasant invoking a protective charm. Thanks a heap, technology.
