This one kind of went under the radar, but yeah, AI ruined coloring pages. I put them out for kids at the library and finding real ones became so difficult I just switched to drawing them all myself.

A good time to remind everyone of the Minnesota First. One of the earliest state militias to volunteer to fight in the Civil War—three years after joining the Union! Provided one of the essential turning points at Gettysburg. Took the flag of the Virginia regiment they captured AND STILL HAVE IT.

It was the first body of troops raised by the state for Civil War service, and it was among the first regiments of any state offered for national service. As part of the Union Army of the Potomac, the First Minnesota saw action in most of the major battles in the war's Eastern Theater, which included the states of Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, among others. The First Minnesota won a reputation as a hard-fighting regiment, particularly after its dramatic, sacrificial action at the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863. After the war, the First Minnesota became legendary and a symbol of the Civil War service of all Minnesotans. On July 2, 1863, the second day of fighting at Gettysburg, the First Minnesota helped General Winfield S. Hancock hold the Union line against advancing Confederate soldiers. Outnumbered three or four to one, the First Minnesota fought the Confederates at close range over 300 yards of open ground near Cemetery Ridge. The next day, the First Minnesota contributed to the repulse of Pickett's Charge, which effectively ended the Battle of Gettysburg and served as a turning point in the war. Two soldiers from the First Minnesota, Corporal Henry O'Brien and Private Marshall Sherman, received the Congressional Medal of Honor for their actions that day. But the regiment's fighting at Gettysburg came at a cost: hundreds of Minnesota soldiers died or were wounded, and the regiment was nearly destroyed.

The cave entrance is in the mid distance with two figures standing looking out towards a distant ship. Between them and the ship there is first a 'beach' of ice before the sea itself. The ship could be up to 800 metres away What makes the photo so special is that where the figures are at the cave entrance there is a band of very white snow and ice (contrasting with the comparatively dark inside of the cave) that creates a stark framework in which the men and the ship are captured. It is made even more dramatic by the fact that the cave entrance is at least 30 metres high and is in the shape of a distorted elipse with the tail sloping off to the right at the top of the elipse The photo being in monochrome in a largely white environment makes the photographers skill all the more laudable

We went to 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and it turns out there was a previous 28 Years Later we didn't know about, and man, if you don't know what happened in that one you are OUT OF LUCK. But honestly, going in totally ignorant made it a thing of unpredictable beauty.

I post this every now and again, but I realize I've never actually explained my reasoning. Some of these shows are better known than others, some are just... better than others. Some are very intentionally trans and some kind of stumble into it by accident. Here is a thread!
Is this anime trans? Okay, so this a chart listing anime on two axes: Thematic and Character. Thematic categories are Thematic Purist (Trans themes are central to the story), Thematic Neutral (Trans themes are present, but not central to the story) and Thematic Rebel (Trans themes rarely if ever appear in the story). Character categories are Character Purist (A central character is trans), Character Neutral (A central character can be read as trans, but may not be trans in the typical sense) and Character Rebel (Nobody has to be trans as long as there's some crossdressing afoot).
