This one kind of went under the radar, but yeah, AI ruined coloring pages. I put them out for kids at the library and finding real ones became so difficult I just switched to drawing them all myself.
Z demands I color with her but her coloring books are AI slop. =\ (Apparently all coloring books are now)

This is really cool - a Pride flag made of NASA images! Created by Rachel Lense. Of course the current gag regime took it down, but it deserves to be spread far and wide!

The eggs thing always confused me. I even buy the more expensive cage-free eggs and even at the very worst they weren't all THAT much more expensive. Why did eggs become the bellwether?
Makes me feel absolutely fucking insane when you feckless losers just keep posting about grocery prices. I can buy 18 eggs for $5 at my overpriced Manhattan grocery store, so what now bitch.

A good time to remind everyone of the Minnesota First. One of the earliest state militias to volunteer to fight in the Civil War—three years after joining the Union! Provided one of the essential turning points at Gettysburg. Took the flag of the Virginia regiment they captured AND STILL HAVE IT.

I am super excited for this! I have such fond memories of reading the official Magic novels back in the 90s.
OMENS OF CHAOS, our hopefully glorious return to print Magic the Gathering fiction, comes out on April 7th. The window for pre-orders closes on Monday. You'll still be ABLE to pre-order the book, but it won't influence the print run. If you haven't ordered already, please order your copy now!

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

I don't love that "everyone who knew anything about anything warned about this, loudly, and was ignored" now applies to so many distinct things.

We went to 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and it turns out there was a previous 28 Years Later we didn't know about, and man, if you don't know what happened in that one you are OUT OF LUCK. But honestly, going in totally ignorant made it a thing of unpredictable beauty.

It's funny that when I was younger the joke about this site was how inaccurate it was and now it's, like, the only functioning part of the internet.
wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

Stop!! Hibari-Kun! came in the mail! I never expected this to come out in English. A series that - as an interview put it - was very of its time while also being radically ahead of its time. I believe you can only order it from the publisher's website, but it's worth a look!
