On the Patreon, which is a HUGE part of keeping me eating, I've recently done Rambo, I've done toy merchandising, I've done Japanese monster movies. Now it's time for the serious stuff.

As ever, subscription is cheap and gets you access to a huge archive.

I’d deffo say K-Pop Demon Hunters. Seemed seismic with the kids (actual kids, not necessarily The Kids).

Listened to the audio soundtracks for Marco Polo. Sorry, recon fans!

It’s not at this point Doctor Who as we’ve known it since - I mean, it could easily be called Ian & Barbara’s Really Horrible Adventure tbh - but it’s still been highly enjoyable, and the context from watching in order is a cool side effect.

None of them are terrible though. I enjoyed all of it, and taking the advice to only do one episode per sitting helped - last time I did this I stalled somewhere in the middle of The Daleks. The Reign of Terror is an absolute BANGER though, and broke the only one ep at a time rule for that.

Doing the watch-Doctor-Who-in-order-starting-in-1963 thing. Got to the end of Season 1 today, so! Rankings!

1. The Reign of Terror
2. An Unearthly Child
3. The Aztecs
4. The Sensorites
5. The Edge of Destruction
6. Marco Polo
7. The Keys of Marinus
8. All that stuff with the cavemen
9. The Daleks

There’s a miniature steam engine society near me and on a Sunday they tend them in a park with a railway set up and kids can ride on the back. The trains are all built by retired engineers, and they’ll happily talk about their creations. They’re brilliant.

After reading about and listening to all of these, the reveal of what was number one in the national chart at the time made me laugh out loud. Amazing contrast!

A piece about Transformers, or why stealing media for kids, giving them to adults and torturing toys to death when you're at it is a terrible idea.

The version of 586 on that Peel Sessions EP is phenomenal. Was obsessed with it to the point that my own minor indie chart entry is with a band named after it! FWIW I thought there’s also a touch of the KISS track Love Gun in the Ghost Dance track. Probs wouldn’t have pegged that as a Goth influence

It may surprise you to learn I also got this in one! 😂 BEST.
