A musician, Oriana Korol, was peacefully playing clarinet with her protest band outside ICE facilities in Portland, OR.

When the band started playing “Ghostbusters,” ICE thugs suddenly poured outside, slammed her into the mud, arrested her and took her to a jail 9 miles away in Vancouver, WA.

there have been a lot of responses to this arguing that young Republicans were motivated by such feelings but didn't express them openly

and I think a crucial lesson of the Trump era is that there is great value in people not expressing these things openly! that's a big and decisive change!

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.

That’s why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed — because Young Republicans weren’t radical enough.

I guess my reticence comes from seeing how the the last No Kings rally went. Just a bunch of middle class people who afterwards went back to their day jobs feeling better about themselves while the Trump agenda moves full speed ahead

Yeah life doesn’t just go back to normal after this. It’s going to either escalate or the federal government will just wither away under constant shutdowns and purges and the states will fend for themselves. Nobody on the left wants to escalate so they’re handing the reins to the right to decide.
