My usual bio is: "Pop culture and narcissism, from a chronically ill movie buff. I try to be one of the good randos." https://boxd.it/35y5

This, however, is mostly a doomscrolling, "spent 14 years on Twitter and it broke my brain" account.
Which is an interesting example in this context, because Bethesda actually hired the primary dev on that mod. His primary visible/credited output is writing Creation Club intro quests without the ability to record new dialogue or make non-hostile NPCs, i.e. the things he's clearly good at.

Not a great day to be unexpectedly setting up a new phone and rediscovering the ubiquity of apps auto playing video by default.

(Genuinely don't think individuals need to personally watch someone murdered by an agent of the state from 3 angles to be an informed citizen and empathetic human being.)

Can't beat a lifetime of being expected to have profound things to say about the specific world-changing stuff you were part of decades ago as far as actor motivation and paratext to draw on, but it's worth emphasizing how thoroughly Hamill nails a character arc he was himself initially dubious of.

Every time I've failed in my life, and Lord have I, it's because I let a system decay. Every success was iterated out of intentionally building a framework around the nebulous, weird, creative bit. Not eliminating the creative, but, like, building a Volvo to drive Gandalf to where he needs to go.

Yep, you can buy & refill physical OMNY cards with cash at NYC MTA kiosks (and also through chain retail outlets like prepaid gift cards). Which I do, because I don't want my phone to be a point of failure for commute. No worse (and in some ways marginally better) than the Metrocard in practice IMO.

The transit payment equivalent of audio cassettes going extinct. From a technical perspective way shittier than what replaced them and lacked the romantic low-tech simplicity of what they replaced.
the amount of sad you should feel about the retirement of the NYC Metrocard should be like “mildly wistful pre-nostalgia” — more than that, IMO, is kinda silly

(Also it's surprisingly easy to screw up your liver with acetaminophen if you're not the type who reads & follows dosage instructions, and/or thinks your headache is a 10 on the pain scale requiring All The Medicine. When you start measuring Tylenol in grams per dose, you need to actually measure.)

I have chronic illness and limited pain management options, and once "invented" the Drugstore Depth Charge (a shot glass of NyQuil dropped into Monster Energy Zero). Even I raise an eyebrow at PainQuil: it's classic Liquid Tylenol, But For Men™ vanity branding.
I know its for pain relief but the color and name just makes me think you can take a sip to make your whole body hurt

LLM consciousness is exactly the same in character and quality as Pot Bear, a pot that I own that looks exactly like a friendly bear when viewed at a particular angle while drunk
"they will be, one day"

no, they won't, any more than tires can help you fly. They're not built for that. They're a fundamentally different technology. An LLM does not exist to model conscious thought, it exists to take advantage of your willingness to see faces in things that aren't there.
