"The idea of a hierarchy of human value is a very well-marketed idea in our media and our politics, and things will really start to change when we place our blame more on those who are selling it for their own gain than those who are desperate enough to buy it."

tech/AI has always been about profit maximisation and world domination at all costs (even if it means the end of democracy) only now, thanks to the rise of fascism, they can say the quite part out loud

More than 2,500 Starbucks workers are on strike. They’re demanding dignity: fair pay, safe conditions, a contract that respects their labor.

It’s time their voices are heard at the same volume as CEOs earning millions.

@sanders.senate.gov and @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social teamed up with Starbucks union organizers, @sbworkersunited.org, to show their solidarity for their fight to win the first fast food contract?

What is this, a functioning democracy?

AI music is a disgrace, an affront to art, and something for us all to reject wholesale.

Not only does it hurt artists, it makes our lives far worse and threatens that which makes us human.

These articles are always a little strange to me, coming from an anti-anthropomorphize perspective of LLMs. However, it falls into the gray area that both the human brain and LLMs have: we still cannot really explain how they work.

Maybe it speaks to how we encode information into categories? 🧵

Yeah. Fighting evil comes with risks and consequences. So the fuck what? Being trans has ruined my ability to participate in society to a meaningful extent, but here I am. You want me to be sad that you're scared? Grow up.
We're never getting through this fascism thing until cishet people develop even just a FRACTION of the courage possessed by ANY openly out tranny or faggot.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

“The [Quebec] law will also ban educational establishments… from maintaining prayer rooms for students who want to express their faith”

It’s interesting that in America—so called founded on “Christian ideals,” has the first amendment that essentially grants freedom FROM religion. Check this out:

Emmanuel Garcia went missing, and rather than check missing person’s reports, Houston PD called ICE.

ICE sent him to the Office of Refugee Resettlement and his mom has been fighting to get him back ever since.

And this, friends, is at the heart of the masculinity crisis. It took women less than 1 generation to outcompete men in degrees and homeownership. We're capable of building nice lives for ourselves so now that access to us requires being minimally decent, they would rather burn the world down.

Sure, but... "The economy" was not good in 2024. The stock market and GDP were good. 🤷🏿‍♂️

2024 was the peak year for US homelessness. Higher than during the great depression.

2024 saw 770K layoffs, an increase over 2023, which was again, a massive jump over 2022.
Once again, I remind you that this woman cannot be allowed anywhere near the strategy or leadership of the Democratic Party:

bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Also, stop it with this BS. Biden correctly said the economy in 2024 was good, because it was. Yes, no one believed it. That wasn't his fault.
Slotkin: "He's trying to distract us from the big stories of last week, the Epstein files and economy. He's tweeting 'the economy is the best it's ever been' -- amazing considering the public isn't stupid. It reminded me of Joe Biden. Biden tried to tell us for a year that the economy was great."

When rich people get more money, they *might* invest it in creating new jobs, or higher pay for existing jobs. Or they might buy a yacht. Or just sit on it.🤷🏿‍♂️

But when poor people get money? They *do* spend it. They have to.

Trickle down has always been a lie.

Trickle up has never not been true.

You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we measure intelligence, and one marker of intelligence that I personally define is having morality and compassion. As in, if that’s hard for you, than to me, you are stupid as hell.

I’m mostly thinking about guys like Stephen Miller and Ben Shapiro.
