Great thread
They developed the "high school girl's sports" angle as a wedge issue, to lever their way up to full society-wide discrimination. What's endlessly stunning to me is how many purported liberals a) helped them when it started & b) are still helping them even after the larger purpose has become clear!

every article about Elon that doesn’t start with the fact that he starved thousands of children to death is malpractice

this man should not be walking around free let alone as a respectable member of society
NEW: Without USAID funding to help buy food for refugees, the World Food Program rushed to prioritize families based on need, determining that only half the population would get food.

Refugees learned which half they were in from a number stamped on the back of their ration card.

“Brutal and traumatizing”: Interviews and a trove of internal documents show government officials and aid workers desperately tried to warn Trump advisers about impending disaster and death.

This Trump/Epstein stuff is so typical of a modern political "scandal," in that ... we know he did it. He knows he did it. Everyone knows he did it & everyone knows that everyone knows he did it. There is zero "did he do it?" involved here. The whole thing is about ... what, exactly?

This is me
IDK if this is what he means, but as a written word person, I simply can't think at the pace of a conversation. Any phone person will dominate the conversation, and I'll punctuate the call with awkward silences. Nor will I remember anything you said. Think of me as spoken-word dyslexic.

Excellent
1. It's fascinating to see, as you can from the responses to the post below, how many daft things people believe, to justify their continued meat eating. So let's examine a few of the common myths in the following thread. 🧵
For years, there's been a massive over-emphasis on food miles, and a massive under-emphasis on food type.
By far and away the best dietary decision you can make, for environmental, humanitarian and public health purposes, is to cut out animal products.

Yes!
The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

The psychology that twists coverage in Trump’s favor is transparent, once you accept that psychology plays a role. They want to be perceived as neutral by their peers, and they know their peers suspect them of anti-Trump bias. So they demonstrate independence by scrutinizing Dems and praising Trump.
There were at least two ceasefires under Biden! In which more than five times as many living Israeli hostages were released in exchange for 240 Palestinians! Has everyone forgotten this?
Also, ceasefires have happened under prior Presidents! The day he gets Palestine their own country he can be told he's the most special boy deserving of a shiny prize.

This is a great thread.
Traditional media appears to be very easy to influence.
All I want in life is to persuade everyone, when encountering politics & culture, to ask, "why are we talking about this?" I mean that very literally: anything you encounter on your screens reflects a choice. Someone covered that, talked about that, rather than the many other things out there. Why?

When this new instance of suppression of free speech we saw with Jimmy Kimmel is allowed to pass, I think the American slide towards fascism cannot be undone anymore.

So I wrote a carefully researched substack post about it. I don't know what else to do.

“Charlie Kirk was a bad person but even bad people don’t deserve to be murdered” is all they have to say. It’s not hard.
I don’t need to be told not to celebrate violence or speak ill of the dead but all this hagiography of Kirk is just absurd. He was a vicious, bigoted troll who devoted his life to making things as shitty as possible for anyone who wasn’t like him. He made the discourse worse in every possible way.

In general I think leftists and liberals both are too dismissive of the fact that there are many sadists in power as a causative explanation for the world's problems (liberals prefer to think of everyone as well-meaning but misguided, leftists prefer economic explanations) bsky.app/profile/paul...
I totally agree. A lot of people are quick to the money explanation. But you can make money without being an asshole. These are people who relish power and get off sexually by being as cruel as they can get away with. Adam Smith had them figured out over two centuries ago.

This is such an important point
And I even somewhat respect the motivation to be that way, but I wish people like that would acknowledge to themselves that *excess* charity can also be an intellectual error. Insisting on nuance & complexity when the reality is dumb & simple *is an error*. And it leads to more errors.

36% of habitable land is used for livestock, 12% for foodcrops, and 1% for the build environment.

When land use or food availability is your first priority, eating less meat has by far the most impact.
