still looking for level design work!

I can work in Unreal, Unity, and probably whatever in-house engine you'll throw at me. I have worked on DLC for Sniper Elite 5, various community mod projects, and custom maps for TF2 and Half-Life 2.

Some of the best advice I got when learning to program is:

"the worst thing your code can do is appear to work"

If it's obviously broken, you know you need to fix it. If it's subtly broken, it may go a long time before being discovered...

Test everything, and be able to explain how it works
"writing code to solve a problem" used to have "understanding the problem" as a prerequisite. but vibecoding allows solution-shaped objects to be produced without any of the hard-won understanding. beware of solution-shaped objects.

How I started making indie games:

- Learned programming in undergrad
- Used Unity for a psychology experiment (VR stuff)
- Kept a "normal job" for ~10 years
- Did many game jams for fun
- Got a master's in CS
- Decided to "make a real one" and overscoped :)

The purpose of the vision approximation is to cull destinations for combat; the enemies should choose locations that they will be able to see you from after all!
