I used to feel the urge to respond to every non-spammy message sent through my website. Partly b/c I was raised that women should always be nice. Over the years, I've discovered it's not necessary to be nice to every rando on the Internet looking for their 5 minutes of fame.

The book club scam has taken an exciting new leap forward. I got one today from a "curated literary platform and newsletter" that, unusually, offered a link to its website. I'm in edits, so obviously I took the opportunity to procrastinate. /1

Had a clause in my contract saying my publisher would help me acquire quoting rights, although I'd have to pay the costs. When it came down to it, they refused anyway.
Unsolicited writing advice, no. 643: It may be tempting to include song lyrics in your work. (And why not? Stephen King does it all the time.) But beware; the rights to even a line of a song can run into the thousands of pounds- and the publisher will expect YOU to pay for them…

Lady Gaga dancing with Bad Bunny made me happy this morning. I missed the half-time show yesterday, but I've been enjoying clips of it this morning before work. It looked like an awesome show with a lot of positive messages.

Microsoft wants me to upgrade to Premium so I can use even more AI at 50% off, but I don't use the AI they're overcharging me for now, so why in the hell would I pay them even more money to rip me off?

Nuremberg scratched that itch for me, but I haven't lately seen anything SFF that's managed to give me that immersive satisfaction.

Yeah, in Los Nefilim, I barely scratch the surface, and del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth occurs after the war when isolated groups continued to fight the Nationalists. I wish there was more in the US about it.

Venerable magazine Harper's Bazaar is running its short story contest again, with the winner receiving "the chance" of publication in the magazine. Just one catch: per the wording of the guidelines, _just by entering_ you transfer copyright ownership of your story to Harper's parent, Hearst. 1/3

Yes, but from what I've read, he didn't manage to fully merge the right-wing groups to become the Falange Española Tradicionalista y de las Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista until 1937. Up until 1937, they were operating more or less independently. Franco organized them.

Today's word is BACK. Today's #Bookqw from the story JACK available in the eCollection FEBRUARY THAW. Written for a fairytales anthology, inspiration was "Throw me my axe!" from the original. The intro warns: This story contains profanity, out-dated tech, & egregious abuse of the music industry.
