A lil something to break the silence. I remember I shared this one time. That was neat. Will probably redo this one at some point.

I created a series of paintings for MTG playmats in collaboration with the Holden Print House depicting 5 scenes from The Lord of The Rings, one for each "land". This scene depicts the Fellowship entering Lothlórien for the first time.

I mean, things are tough all over. If rude criticism stops you from making art, you should probably not be making art.

I try to keep things simple so my gut reaction was to say “just call it art”, which I do. Problem is, I like to go down these little rabbit holes in my mind and then it becomes real complex real fast. Why can’t art just be a noun? Why does it also have to be an adjective or subjective?
I've made it a personal goal to stop using the term "content" when referring to media made by artists. The word implies mass-produced filler and calling someone's hard work their "content" has started to feel kinda like an insult. Like human art made strictly for quick consumption
the enthusiasm for generative AI would not have been possible without prior decades of capitalist conditioning to view works of art as products, rather than acts of culture and shared human life

I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.

I guess this is my mind dump after working through the entirety of my Saturday. I am exhausted, but now it’s time for some coffee, Oreos and some Minecraft. Gonna renovate me a woodland mansion.
So, I’ve really come around to enjoying the work I do. For a little context, I went to school for graphic design. All I learned was how to hate it. It took nearly a decade of failure and rejection to just say “screw it, I’ll do it myself”. I guess I decided to learn the hard way. Works so far.

I appreciate the “x people you follow also follow this account” feature, but I also kinda want a “x people you follow have blocked this account” feature, too, for a more comprehensive vibe check.

Any company serious about staying in business will tell you up front that while your on the clock or while you’re wearing the company’s brand that your acting as a representative of that company and that any misbehavior would work to the detriment of their brand. It’s basic shit.

She earned that.
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

This got me thinking of my early 20s. I was squarely in that camp and saw it as “selling out”. Every single person I respected told me I really should sell, even my grandma. I went to art school with that mentality 🤦🏿‍♂️ and left with it. In the end, life gave me a proper education.
"You shouldn't make art for the money" buddy I'll take it one step further and say we shouldn't have to labor for capital at all but in the meantime pay an artist

I suppose I should count my blessings. The font could've been Adhesive Nr. Seven. I mean American Scribe was right there. Oh wait that would require The People to know how to read.

Growing up no one told us just how long 30-85 years is, versus how short 1-29 years is.

Childhood will never be the best part of life, you'll have to re-learn everything in your 20's anyway. Seeing all the thriving 50-80 year olds around me is a reminder that life has only just started for me

When someone says "artists are gatekeeping!", what they really mean is "I want to be seen as skilled like them without actually putting in any effort because it's 2025 and I still believe that art is a talent you're born with rather than a skill you have to build up over years"
I don't believe it when anyone tries to say artists are gatekeeping creativity because every artist I know is so generous. Lots of us sharing tutorials, free brushes and assets, share our manus, etc! There's no shortage of info or free tools out there if you're willing to look and learn.
