Seattle urbanista, interested in education, safe streets, and housing. Grew up in Baltimore. GIS graduate student and bike mom. Former wetland biologist. I follow Seattle School Board meetings and yell at cars.
You almost hear a whisper at the edge of the November evening breeze. Is that the rain, or is it a voice that sounds like it's saying: "It's always the same maaaaaaap..."
Per-precinct final data are now available for King County, Washington's general election. In the race for Seattle mayor, Katie Wilson defeated incumbent Bruce Harrell by just under 2,000 votes.

Just realized I was not YET following WeRateDogs here unlike every other social media platform. This is ALSO my favorite genre of dog video. Eli (my heart dog who passed away in 2021) would also carry the most massive sticks he could find, and Boxers have strong ass necks.
Here are my top 10 dogs carrying big sticks!

What was lost with recent federal defunding of 3 out of 9 regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASCs), written by leaders/staff from Northeast, South Central and Pacific Islands CASCs.

We haven't given up on getting their funding restored, along with other cuts to the rest of the network.

My friend's wrist is broken :(
@seattledot.bsky.social Can you send Okay Broomer to the end of the Interurban trail at 110th? A friend's bike slid on the wet slick leaves that have piled up here and she hurt her wrist pretty bad. She filed a FiFi, but hoping drawing your attention to it here will help too!

In 4th grade (1990ish), we went on a boat with the @chesapeakebayfdn.bsky.social which introduced me to environmental/wetland science. In 6th grade I did a 2-week canoe adventure down the Patuxent River with CBF. I was first introduced to GIS in 10th grade in my env. science magnet school.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

What a cool program!
Last night, I graduated from the Kirkland Initiative, an 8 wk program designed to cultivate future city leaders by making leadership accessible to residents.

I had the opportunity to meet all the City department heads and learn about how their departments function in tandem with the council.
