Subway is a bowling alley. We’re not out selling sad-looking footlong subs at highway rest stops with no other options.

there is absolutely no way that management laid off "most" of the devs that made a game two weeks after it came out, unless they were already planning to kill off the game before it launched

which means they maliciously lied to their own employees for months, if not years

I swear it seems like there are two gaming industry stories these days:

1. Development team work under harsh crunch conditions to make a game, it underperforms, they’re all fired.

2. Development team work under harsh crunch conditions to make a game, it’s a big success, they’re all fired,

If China's emissions had kept growing at previous levels emissions would like, what, maybe a full GIGATONNE higher....the area of avoided emissions here is like deleting the emissions of entire countries. This is happening at a scale that will very clearly have an effect in lessening disasters

I’ll never get over it.
“When Citizens United was decided in 2010, billionaires had spent $18 million on the 2000 election, $13M 2004 and $16M in 2008. Then came the deluge. In 2012 it was $231M, and nearly doubled again in next three election cycles —to $682M in 2016, $1.2 billion in 2020 and $2.6 billion in 2024.” Gift:

Song of the Sea prolly my biggest flex. Fuckin' spellbound.
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

One reason why all right-wing art looks like 1950's advertisements is that they don't look at art.

Their idea of art is what they *do* look at. Hence the nostalgia slop.

Now think about what that regurgitated nostalgia slop they wallow in, is doing to their sense of aesthetics.

as I'm getting older i try to be really gentle with drawing ocs like Hitomi since I'm not transfem and because I think you gotta be caring about depicting trans girls in art especially if their expression isn't 100% hyper feminine.

the cycle of “devs working for years to make a game > game launches (and it doesn’t matter how successful it is) > two week waiting period > most of the team laid off” is not only entirely unsustainable but genuinely horrifying
Highguard developer Wildlight has reportedly laid off most of its team, says one a level designer sharing the news of layoffs.

The live service game launched just two weeks ago after being revealed at The Game Awards.

…Sure., I’m feeling spicy today. Let’s say something nuclear:

It’s not about modes.
It’s not about accessibility.
It’s not about having a road map.

Your favorite game genre is probably not going to survive capitalism.
The 2XKO situation just reaffirms to me that Fighting Games need to have single player content.

Please check on the trans people in your life today.

The anti trans rhetoric is everywhere.

Those on the right are purposefully stoking fear and division in an attempt to destroy an entire marginalized group.

We can’t let them get away with it.

Trans rights are human rights.
