Opened my meditation app for the first time in months and it was all "omg I missed you! So glad you're back, so proud of you, you're doing such a good thing! Shall we set some usage goals to keep you on track?" And frankly I find this rude, we both know I've been gone, just let me come back quietly

It remains weird to me that even in NYC there are people who cannot comprehend that not everyone sees Christmas as a neutral, secular, and universal holiday.

okay folks, “government name” doesn’t mean “work for the government.” it is a slang term meaning “your full name”

Newsom could’ve said “we need to focus on common goals” - neutral, reasonable

Instead, he chose to say “culturally normal.” This is loaded language. It warns you about not conforming. It stigmatizes those who do not. It’s a bad and divisive choice, and i think it’s worth noting.

This got really sinister with the use of “back to normal” re: Covid. For people with compromised immune systems or a self-preservation drive, it was entirely normal to keep taking precautions. Their behavior continued to be normal, it stopped, however, being common.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

The singular city of Nashville falls into THREE districts. Not Nashville and suburbs, like they do to Memphis to dilute its votes, ACTUAL LITERAL DOWNTOWN STATE CAPITOL NASHVILLE, the courthouse is in TN-7 and the capitol building is in TN-5 and the registrar is in TN-6

A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

Related to my last couple of posts, I'm trying to post less angry stuff about covid and masking and just be out here enjoying myself while visibly masked (in *fun* masks), not hiding the air purifiers I use. I'm gonna make myself some fun mask chains too. I hope more people will join me

Notice how they don't bring up at all that Black and brown people will likely be harassed the most under a mask ban because both police + some white people will assume they're "up to mischief" bc racism.

Norovirus is on the rise. “Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea, nausea and stomach pain, body aches, headache, and fever.

"Usually, these symptoms start about 12 to 40 hours after exposure, so it's pretty quick," Zakhidova said. "Most of the time the symptoms last one to three days."
Norovirus cases surge nationally and in Texas ahead of the holiday season
A fast-moving stomach bug is spreading across the country, and if you're not careful, doctors say the foodborne illness could ruin your holiday season.

Bad framing: ACIP voted to scrap the universal hepatitis B vaccine recommendation for newborns.

Accurate framing: Anti-vax conspiracy theorists appointed to ACIP by Robert Kennedy Jr., who made a fortune as an anti-vax profiteer, voted to expose babies to a preventable, incurable, deadly illness.

Also USPS didn't loss money because it doesn't make money because it's not a business and if never makes money to begin with.

It did however deliver over 112.5 billion pieces of mail in 2024 and that doesn't even include packages.
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

I've said this before, but there are two kinds of people in the world.

- People who have suffered or been traumatized by something, and think it's unfair unless everyone else also suffers
- People who have suffered or been traumatized by something and don't want anyone else to experience that.
