I don't want to keep harping on that train wreck of a focus group, but I'm just going to say it is bad actually that a majority of our elected officials are monolingual, it's also bad culturally that we've allowed being an english only speaker to be upheld as acceptable if not a virtue

Even as a regular person, people look at me impressed when I say I speak decent Spanish. When I let then know I can say a tiny bit of Japanese and Turkish it's like I've grown another head. I expect more from my electeds.
