The extent to which residents of Minneapolis are more civic, courageous, and patriotic than business elites, conservative luminaries, and Republican members of Congress, is really, really striking. It’s a lesson not to be forgotten. It’s one that would not have surprised Hubert Humphrey.

One thing I believe, as a white person, is far too many white people forget the debt that activism in the US owes generally to the Civil Rights movement, and how much the instruments of power that Stephen Miller is trying to extend across the country are those of Jim Crow.
These words demand attention.

“In a real sense this is holy ground, consecrated by blood spilled here. The cost is high, and so I had to be here to stand in the very place where this tragedy unfurled… I think we’re at a defining moment for our country…” ~ Rev Warnock

Take a moment, so much more…

After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.

Democrats are right to deny funding for DHS absent changes that stop this lawlessness and inhumanity. Changes that Americans are demanding.

Let's talk for a second about what has to change - immediately. And why it's so important that we demand these reforms.

Reminder that, as of the latest reports, Liam Ramos is still in prison in Texas - now for 5 days.

His parents are legal asylum seekers with no criminal record.

THIS. Strike while they're vulnerable.
The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

Bill Kristol is absolutely correct. No dithering, Democrats, its time to play hard ball for once, jeezus don't blow it!

Clear & concise language: the senate needs to DEMAND ACTIONS to 2) impeach Noem and 2)
get ICE out of our cities now before we go anywhere close to back to business as usual.
Thank-you Rep Robert Garcia!
🚨MIC-DROP: In a power move, Oversight Dem Rep. Robert Garcia demands Kristi Noem be IMPEACHED and says ICE “should absolutely be abolished”… and “not exist.”

He says the Senate must block DHS funding until ICE gets OUT of our cities. This is amazing.

“He’s killing us in the streets and we still have to pay our taxes in April” is an incredibly compelling point.
Before speaking with two armed men at the Pretti vigil last night, a man approached & asked if I was going to tell the truth. I said yes. He told me how frustrated he was at the media & the harm it’s causing to his community.

I asked if he wanted to share words for the media on camera, & he did:

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum.

Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum.

Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum.

ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

Exactly. I appreciate Kristol’s cutting right to the chase, “thugs…regime”
“The notion that these masked enforcers are legitimate law enforcement is a fiction. They are paramilitary operatives. They are thugs in the service of a regime.”

Bill Kristol is making a clearer case for what Democrats can and should do in the minority than Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries ever has
AND IMPEACH AND REMOVE.

We need to clamor for that even if the votes aren't there—yet.

Murphy says Trump wants to trade ICE "murder and mayhem" for control of Minnesota's election. He also says yeah, that may sound conspiratorial but Pam Bondi's letter to Walz spells it out.
Murphy: "It's always been the fear & now is closer to the reality that the Trump admin is creating this mayhem, particularly in cities in swing states, to take control of elections. They're trying to trade the presence of ICE & the murder & mayhem they are causing for control of MN's elections"

Democrat leaders should be in Minnesota right now, standing side by side with Walz and Frey and the community.

They need to show solidarity and a united front.

They must say Abolish ICE.

They won't but they should. Trump is going to unleash hell on that state.
