The NAACP's 117th birthday wishlist: defund ICE, prosecute Kristi Noem, and shutter Elon's data centers.
How the NAACP signed up to abolish ICE
Trump's war on civil rights has pushed the group—117 years old today—into a new era of confrontation.

On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

There is no way Senate Dems should vote for DHS funding while Republicans are threatening to nationalize elections and Trump is threatening to do it by executive order. ICE reforms are no longer enough. Their authoritarianism must be fought with every legislative lever available.

This is part of the sexual politics of meat, so many ads for mammalian milk show cows happy to share their nursing product; smiling, skinny, thinking only of the consumer. Most ads omit, of course, their children for whom the milk was meant.
& if I could broadcast one message to the world it would be that there is absolutely no good reason to mass produce another mammal for its breast milk. It will never not be an unmitigated atrocity. And I can't believe how poorly understood it still is among those who should know better

I think it's pretty much impossible to do dairy farming humanely, but the way we do it seems 1/

The death of Alex Pretti has been ruled a homicide, the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office said. Pretti was shot Jan. 24 during a chaotic encounter with federal immigration officers in Minneapolis. Jesus Ochoa and Raymundo Gutierrez were named as the two officers who fired at Pretti.
