Before I moved to Germany I was volunteering teaching English to migrants and refugees in Dublin. On my last day before moving, a 60-something Ukrainian woman I'd been teaching said "Good luck" then glanced down at her lesson notes, and said "It'll be grand."

I think all my old mates emigrating because there were no jobs between 2008-2014, and then most of my new mates emigrating between 2018-2025 because there are no gaffs, has had a greater effect on social cohesion than migrants

On one hand I cringe at most modern internet slang. On the other hand, it hurts my brain when someone uses the phrase "went viral" to describe a video with a lot of views in the year of our lord 2025.

This is so clearly aimed at single 20-somethings who moved out for college but chose to move back to save a bit of money before settling down. A nice fantasy so unbelievably detached from reality.
