Good morning to everyone who won’t be spending their day rounding people up based on what they look like.

Breaking on MSNBC:

Two federal prosecutors have been placed on leave at the direction of the White House after filing a sentencing memo seeking 27 months in prison for a pardoned Jan. 6 rioter who brought illegal guns and ammunition to President Obama's house in 2023.
I'm sure that will work out well for them. 🤨

God I am listening to @aoc.bsky.social unapologetically celebrating cities -- urbanity, diversity, creativity, decency -- and it is giving me life.

Nothing but respect for *my* president.

Awful piece. Just because so many white people are culturally ignorant and don’t know that Aunt, Auntie, Cousin are all terms to describe family members or close friends of our parents - even if that’s not their blood connection. The racism, the desperation, the sheer…..smallness of these attacks!

In the final days of New York City’s mayoral race, Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani has faced pushback over a story he told about his aunt being afraid to wear her hijab while riding the subway after the September 11, 2001, attacks. https://cnn.it/432IAcr

🚨 NEW: 22 states, DC, and 3 governors just filed a legal challenge over a $5 billion “contingency fund” meant to keep SNAP benefits going.
American myth #437: "We need a good businessman to run this country like a business!"
A) Trump ain't and never has been a good businessman.
B) The federal government is not a business.

Of the people, by the people, for the people, not of, by, or for billionaires.

The Billionaire class gets massive tax breaks & subsidies.

Working class Americans on unlivable wages get SNAP assistance, so they can afford necessities like food.

Guess which program is getting cut?

An administration of billionaires will always look out for their own.

Learn & vote accordingly.
None of it is OK. Mainstream media, however, mostly ignore it, and the entire Republican party endorses and provides cover for the opacity. Until/unless voters hold media and Republicans responsible, neither will alter their behavior.

"Mamdani's proposals, such as freezing the rent for some New York tenants, free buses and free child care, are not only feasible but also build off the foundations of previous New York City laws, political analysts told ABC News."
Zohran Mamdani's proposals for NYC build off city's progressive foundation: Experts
While some critics decry Zohran Mamdani's vision for New York City as far-fetched, experts noted that they build off progressive foundations laid by past policies.

BREAKING: We're suing North Carolina over its congressional map that disenfranchises Black voters in the state.

The newly passed map shifts thousands of Black voters out of their communities of representation.
If the 2 of them debated, Riley would still tie for 5th.

ICE is struggling to hire officers — even after lowering its standards. DHS is spending millions of dollars on an aggressive television ad campaign targeting local police officers — but it's not getting nearly enough applicants.

It looks like most Americans simply don’t want to be ICE thugs.

Can someone please ask him how the GOP changed the 60 vote threshold twice in the last two months to approve 150+ trump appointees in one go? Cuz they are in charge and can change the rules to open the government. And they know it. They WANT the shutdown.
Mike Johnson: "Democrats are required to open the government. They keep saying, 'Republicans are in charge of government.' We aren't!"

I rode the 1 train with Linsey Davis on the way to our ABC News interview yesterday, and talked about how in the wealthiest city in the world we can't simply accept that people have to sleep on the streets or the subways.

It's not a question of resources. It's a question of political will.

Bynum: If you can find money to send $40 billion to Argentina but you can’t find money for food for kids and seniors, I have a problem with that. If you can find money for two airplanes for Kristi Noem, then you can find money to feed American children and seniors.
Because those are the same rich people who aren't paying employees a livable wage to begin with, which is why most people receiving SNAP benefits are employed. #EatTheRich
