Hong Kong fire and Grenfell are just alike. Fire spreading through unsafe building materials installed due to penny-pinching, killing dozens. One difference: before the HK fire is even out three executives at contractors have been arrested, eight years after Grenfell no-one has been arrested.

reading about the Maersk Alabama hijacking & the Captain Phillips movie, its so funny the film ends with 3 perfect simultaneous sniper shots at the lifeboat just before the hijackers kill phillips, whereas in reality the SEALS blasted them randomly without warning then stole $30k off the ship lol

I have long posited that Daniel Craig's accent in Glass Onion is better than Knives Out because in Knives Out he is trying to do a real Southern accent and is bad at it but in Glass Onion he is just talking like Foghorn Leghorn, which is something a real gay Southern weirdo would do.

strongly remember watching this video as a teenager (i think i downloaded it off limewire???) and getting my whole brain rewired by it

yanks have correctly identified that the european response to casual roasting is to immediately bring up school shootings, & yes that's an insane escalation, but also there are a lot of fucking school shootings. like it's one of the strongest associations we have with American Culture at this point.
