Design notes are what make history books fun. Here's a first entry for Designers & Dragons: The '20s.
I want to do a thread covering some of what we covered in yesterday's panel around the direction we're taking T&T: A New Age 🧵👹

November on @bgstatsapp.bsky.social shows a lower number of plays due to holidays. It was great to get War of the Ring back to the table along with my first solo play of Recall - the latest game from the team that designed Revive (one of my favourites).

Getting on my ‘this is exactly why print mags are great’ soapbox again

I can’t even begin to work out how much awesome stuff I’ve discovered over the years because the magazine article on the thing I already loved was followed by one on something totally different I’d never have heard of otherwise
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

it should probably be illegal for people running stalls to wear Wyrd Science t-shirts, instant grit success on any barter or haggle check, the wallet carrying public just helpless in the face of that much rizz
Finally, @peregrinecoast.press were right next to SoulMuppet, and I still missed them on my first round. You could've found them at L15-16, but it's a little late for that now, so go buy Milkbar from their webshop.

Hey pals, @paulbourne.bsky.social is one of my fave ttRPG artists and he just joined us on Bsky! A lot of you have shared his pieces from Cold City, Hot War and a|state, so why not follow direct and make him feel welcome 🙌

Also, add him to you ttrpg and artist starter packs if you maintain them!

Monopoly gets a bad rep from modern boardgaming fans...

Is it fully deserved, though...? Mostly? Perhaps? Maybe? 😉

If you're looking to support indie ttrpg game designers (especially since it's Itch Creator Day) there's some great finds here in the replies. 👇
Let's get an indie ttrpg HYPE TRAIN going and recommend some cool games for people to buy/gift.

If you're a small #ttrpg creator (or there's an indie game you really love) drop a quick pitch and a link below.

One of my favourite things about MF DOOM was listening to a new track for the first time, hearing him end a bar with a really specific word or phrase, & waiting to see how he rhymed every syllable in the next.
'Madvillain been as high as Kathmandu
And tilted to the side like that fat man's shoe'

God I love Mondays now I’ve gone down to 4 days a week. Done 20,000 steps and ticked a load of jobs off my todo list including the Exodus from Reynoldsworld translation grid - unlocking French and Italian translations of it :)

Sad to see the end of Brainwaves, the board game community has been vastly under-served by news reporting.

I turned Privacy Badger on a few weeks ago, and I am shocked how many sites (mostly the mediocre brand of news sites that isn't quite AI but certainly isn't quality) now say I'm ad blocking and to please turn it off.

Those would be the sites violating community norms such as Do-Not-Track.

This is broadly true of every game with a large content creator following that I’ve experienced. It is vanishingly rare to get a genuine reaction from a player exposed to one of these online communities
One of the producers on Guilty Gear Strive said it was basically impossible to source player feedback on balance changes online because nobody had original opinions and would just parrot what the most popular content creators said and so they had to rely on data and I think about that every day.

Seeing all the PAXU coverage has me really missing engaging with other creators and the communal sense of inspiration and solidarity. Bluesky still feels pretty quiet for the board game community and I can't bring myself to compromise by returning to any other social media platform.
