I condemn all gun violence.

It also saddens me that the National Guard has been used as political pawns for a political stunt.

Even worse, this will give the Trump admin more fuel to increase the presence of our military in our cities for political stunts.

With DC shooter now identified as an Afghan national not the antifa secret agent White House hoped for a good time to remember the Trump admin has gutted domestic anti-terrorism capacity and reassigned many to finding grandmothers to arrest at immigration hearings.

Granted asylum April this year, 2025. Noem vetted him.

He was just revetted under Trump and vetted initially under Trump. But people can change and motivation for violence can occur at any time.

You forgot that the shooter was approved for asylum in 2025 under Trump.

So the Trump administration vetted and approved his asylum application.

Hang wringing that they can’t blame a Democratic leader.

Our hearts should go out to the two National Guard members who were shot today. Our National Guard isn't supposed to be deployed to pick up trash on the road. This wouldn't have happened without Trump's vindictive political games. This tragic nonsense is disturbing.

Those National Guard troops should have been home with their families for Thanksgiving, not picking up trash in Washington, D.C. for our felon president's political theater. Now, this will be used to justify even more militarization of our cities. Stay vigilant.

Trump called bankers Shylocks, today. The antisemitism doesn't surprise me at all, coming from him. The Shakespeare reference though? Didn't see that coming.

Of course Trump demands that 500 more National Guard members be put in harm’s way for no real purpose. Dangerous, using these service members as pawns. Put Hegseth and Patel out there to “protect” DC. 🙄

Let the Guard members stay home with their families and employers.

The National Guard shooting in DC is a tragedy, especially when you consider that there’s ZERO reason for them to be there.

He’s confused a lot. He sometimes mumbles sort of incoherent nonsense when he’s asked a question in the Oval Office.

These two things are true:
1) Shooting National Guard members is horrific and criminal.
2) So is putting National Guard members in harm’s way to score political points.

National Guard troops don't sign up to be used as political pawns. They sign up to serve their country, not needlessly deploy to American cities to pick up garbage. These two soldiers should be alive right now and at home with their families for Thanksgiving. I'm furious.

Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.
