This is a moral fight between Right and Wrong. It isn’t time to retreat from it, to parse out legal trespassing as reality is being tirelessly shifted.

Stop looking to the referees and institutions. They’ve failed you. Stop expecting someone to save us, they won’t. This is on us.

Last month, I got the idea to write an illustrated guide to survival that would cover everything from rain harvesting to wiring up solar panels. Now it's a 50-page draft.

If you are waiting to get THE INTERMEDIARIES in softcover… please know the publisher just told me there will not be a paperback. The same is true of my fiction—no paperbacks are coming. I’m sorry, and I know it affects sales. I wish there was better news, but only bestsellers tend to get softcover.

IT’S THE FUCKING PROCESS

It’s not the product, it’s the process

It honestly fills me with crushing despair how capitalism has so throughly cooked our brains that a huge number of us seem totally incapable of grasping that
& this nonsense that whomever has “the most ideas the fastest” is “the most creative” is ridic. There’s ppl with 1,000 ideas for paintings yet will never paint The Starry Night. An idea and $2.90 will get you a ride on the subway in NYC.

Artistry isn’t solely manufacturing ideas. It’s the process.

I've said before that one tactic of abusers is to claim that their actions aren't the problem, the problem is your complaining about their actions. If you'd just keep quiet, there wouldn't be a problem. Enablers are the ones deploying this "let's not do this the wrong way so let's do nothing".

I always have to call out when the post hoc fallacy actually yields a solution to a problem lol. our Wi-Fi started glitching after we piled a bunch of boxes and small appliances (heaters and fans) in front of it, and I just moved that shit and the Wi-Fi immediately started working smoothly again.

If you’re dealing with a chronic illness flare, remember it’s ok to rest.

You’re not failing.

You didn’t do anything wrong.

You’re not being punished.

Flare ups happen and the best thing we can do is lean in to radical rest as much as possible.

Save your spoons and give yourself grace.

Remaining politically unbiased requires staying neutral on matters like evidence, relevant past behavior, clear patterns, obvious lies, and observable truth, which is worth remembering whenever somebody starts complaining about political bias.

Sometimes I imagine what it would have been like had we adapted to Covid instead of giving up.

If we had clean air in public spaces.
Respirators in healthcare.
Free masks for those who need them.
Better tests & treatment.
Paid time off.

We would all be healthier.

It was six years ago today that a man in Wuhan, China began feeling ill.

He would become the first known COVID case.

Covid is still with us. It’s still killing and disabling.

Clean the air. Wear a mask. Get your boosters.

Public health is a social justice issue.

"This sowing of mistrust in our relationship with media is... a huge effect of this synthetic media moment we’re in..."

“I’ve been thinking about ways to refuse it, and the simplest, dumbest way to do that is to only search before 2022.”

Something to try out and be thankful for this year!

I’d suggest offering more than one thing- hey can I get you something? We have beer, coke, lemonade and water!
Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

“Search history,” a poem (by me)

How to prepare duck breast
In the fall of democracy,
And protect overwintering bees
And immigrants.
De-icing your freezer
And town square,
And saying what you mean
To get a knee off your chest.

Six ways to make casserole
Without health insurance.
