NEWS: CBS blocked Stephen Colbert from airing an interview with Texas State Rep. James Talarico and ordered him not to mention the cancellation over fear of FCC chair Brendan Carr.

Colbert went on air and revealed it anyway.

Also there's an implicit belief that if someone does some experimenting with their gender and/or sexuality at time 1 and at time 2 decides they're mostly or entirely cis or straight, they'll somehow be sullied or ruined by having experimented.

That is also BS, especially for *social* transition.

So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.
It took only a 15-second clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt duking it out on a crumbling rooftop — made by A.I. with a two-sentence prompt and the click of a button — to draw swift outrage, and sizable fear, from Hollywood.

"It’s nothing short of terrifying," one scriptwriter said.
Why an A.I. Video of Tom Cruise Battling Brad Pitt Spooked Hollywood
A 15-second clip created by an artificial intelligence tool owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance appears more cinematic than anything so far.

I also am baffled that people are assuming this super checkered barely known guy will be super progressive as though we're not living in a post Fetterman universe.
It's nuts that these are the two candidates the respective wings of the Maine Dems have coughed up. I am positive there are, somewhere in the state, a moderate who's not 97 years old and a progressive who doesn't have nazi tattoos.

Last year, Niantic shut down its gaming division, revealing it was never a game company and was always a data collection company. They ABSOLUTELY have vast amounts of information on anyone who used the game on that island. The DOJ clearly will never release the unredacted files, maybe Niantic will.

I was trying to explain to someone how immigration courts are supposed to work and he said "that's nice in theory, but we just don't have the resources!"
Looks like we do, and this is how the right is choosing to use them.
Trump's big, ugly budget megabill gives ICE more agents than the FBI, more jails than the federal Bureau of Prisons, and a larger budget than most countries' militaries.

It does this by stripping food away from children, the disabled, and the working poor.

Not one more penny.

This is important. The head of CBP says here that his agency did NOT provide the assessment that led DHS to label Alex Pretti a terrorist looking to inflict mass casualties.

That appears to contradict Stephen Miller's claim that the initial assessment was based on CBP reports:

They are in fact concentration camps in the original usage of camps for concentrating a civilian population for control or collective punishment or to facilitate deportation or population transfer.

They are not concentration camps as a euphemism for extermination camps.
God the gall of @jaketapper.bsky.social lecturing that Minneapolis small business owner about the meaning of the word "concentration camp" while people are being crammed into poorly resourced buildings by the thousands and shuttled off never to be heard from again

Gods that is so fucking pathetic. At least the first time fascism rolled around the villains had the goddamn decency to act the part. The n*zis this time are all such dorky chuds I'd laugh at them if they weren't in the midst of murdering us all

People defending this post are taking way too much pleasure in calling a woman a “bitch” and that’s why I don’t like it.
I think this label is one of those that only we smug bitches can call ourselves.

Legal status doesn’t matter: if you exceed ICE’s melanin threshold, you get snatched. It is ethnic cleansing. There is no other word for it.

The news has shown you video of these often violent detentions. What you don’t see is what happens to these individuals after.

I’ve had a front row seat.

My current novel (planned as a trilogy) is entirely about one of the most uncomfortable places I can imagine: how much of a monster are you willing to become in service of the greater good? When is the loss too great to do what you think is right, or the stakes too high not to damn yourself?
Q2.
This question is not about the comfortable places that we go with horror. But the uncomfortable ones. The ones that turn us inside out even as we write them. The ones that make us wonder who we are, at the end. #HorrorWritersChat

"We are staying brave while our country is besieged by a hostile foreign power."
- propaganda, apparently

Except the helmets don't even say that. The U.S. flew a tattered flag from the WTC at the 2002 Olympics and that was 1000x more political than this. Fuck off, IOC.
After the IOC banned Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych’s memorial helmet, freeskier Kateryna Kotsar shared a similar experience.

Her signature “Be Brave Like Ukrainians” helmet was considered “propaganda” by the IOC.

In all seriousness, this kid will probably never want McDonalds again after this. Fuck ICE
Lyons says ICE agents actually "took care" of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos when they detained him, before shipping him off to a horrific Texas ICE facility.

He says ICE officers "comforted him" as they chased his dad, put him in their car to play "his favorite music, then took him to McDonalds."
