Hello to all the new followers! It's been a while since I talked about Vertvolta, & an introductory thread is in order.
Vertvolta Press is a publishing house (some would say 'hybrid'). We publish books, contemporary & reprints, & offer consulting & design services to self-published authors (1/5)
Thread:
👀 What if I told you there was a hidden art gallery scattered across the country?

What if I told you some of its treasures had vanished?

What if I told you that I found them?

A project three years in the making (🎁 gift link):
The disappearing art gallery in your post office
The U.S. Postal Service is home to thousands of historic works of art in post offices nationwide. Hundreds have been lost, sold or destroyed.

More significantly, i think he ruined space safety protocols— NASA trying to rush a moon mission with reported problems right now, vs working out the problems to keep astronauts safe? Catastrophic on every level.

Thanks billionaire blowing up his rockets & launch sites 👍🏽 🫠
the most impactful thing Elon Musk has ever done or will ever do regarding science and innovation in this country is illegally cut billions of dollars of research funds for literally no reason

What’s frustrating is being on Twitter in those years, resharing his work & others, & watching with horror as Gabbard & Jill Stein were photographed in meetings with either Putin or other Russian leaders, & *nothing* from the intelligence community & DOJ. 🤷🏽
i started researching Russian disinfo networks in 2014 and writing about them in 2015 and the sheer amount of smug online assholes who dismissed every piece of reporting as CIA propaganda or whatever will never not piss me off
Is anybody ever gonna take a step back and realize the "Russia Russia Russia" people — derided as lunatic wine moms — were actually underplaying the foreign influence stuff, and the loud people who kept insisting it was all fake are now saying Jeffrey Epstein was kind of a cool guy?

“The U.S. is clearly echoing previous history with these warehouse acquisitions,” @andreapitzer.bsky.social told @willbunch.bsky.social. “Dachau—not a death camp, to be sure, but one of the earliest Nazi concentration camps—took over a converted factory when it began its heinous existence in 1933."
The banality of evil is shocking. An ex-Big Lots warehouse for cheap consumer junk is bought by ICE to ship as many as 7,500 handcuffed human beings, as the Trump regime builds a U.S. gulag archipelago

It’s not easy; it’s not finished. But FIVE started this!

You’ll often find yourself in a conversation with an otherwise progressive person & then the conversation shifts to unhoused people & suddenly the rhetoric from them veers towards eugenics.
It’s wild to experience.

Seattleites know
hatred of unhoused people is genuinely a pipeline to fascism. if the wealthy can get you to dehumanize your own neighbors, then they can get you to do it to anyone.

I’ve caught glimpses of a decent aurora once, nowhere near this spectacular, but the thing that struck me most was that the light flowed in a way that was very conspicuously NOT like a liquid but like electricity. It felt like being inside one of those plasma globe lamps. Eerie and breathtaking.
The aurora last night in Beaver, Alaska was just incredible. This is a real-time video (not sped up) of the crazy motion I saw. Also, look how BRIGHT it is, wow!

This is just part of patrol. ICE threatens you, points guns at you, brutalizes or kills someone in front of you. Every day it's somebody new in our circle. We gather around them while they work through the stress and fear and then, to the person, they go back out.

My friends are so insanely brave.
Friend who's part of a neighborhood watch group says their car was just surrounded by ICE. Is fine but obviously rattled.

If there's ever been a time to NOT be incrementalist, this is it. The most political capital you're gonna have is right now. And we got Gestapo death squads in MSP and TB spreading through concentration camps in Texas. If you can't find a win there, get out of politics. The Epstein Class, baby

stuff like this is why i have trouble with the incrementalism and slow-walking from dems. this is happening *right now*
The proposed centers are so large that some could house as many as 8,000 detainees at once, according to a DHS spreadsheet of more than 20 potential locations that was verified by NBC News. The largest federal prison in the U.S., for example, has roughly 4,000 inmates.
ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention spark growing concern
Sources at two government contractors told NBC News they were worried that new warehouses — and the large numbers of immigrants who would be housed in them — would present safety problems.

Woah.
Some GOT-level regime delusions & betrayals in this great piece, but I’ll quote this, to haunt us in the US for the next few years:

“One lesson to be drawn from Assad’s fall is a very old one: The greatest vulnerability of all political dynasties is the problem of succession.” 🤔
This story is so mind-blowing (in a bad way) that I have to use a gift link on it. Honestly, words fail.

For starters, if the way you want to spend your time is playing Candy Crush — CANDY CRUSH??? — why would you wreck your country to protect your dictatorship?

We distributed rents one by one.
We can’t even think about March rent yet.
