66 years ago today, artist Yves Klein sold antiques dealer Jacques Kugel an artwork – which seems like an unremarkable anniversary, but for the fact that the art was invisible, and the buyer was supposed to burn the receipt

you can type stuff on your computer and it shows up in a little digital window, and all sorts of people can read it, not just people you know

Why would topnine.co show me 2 blank squares for my 2 of my photos? How do I make it show photos instead? Weird.

Trans people have always and will always be here.
A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

In S17 of #Taskmaster, Nick Mohammed dressed as a vampire for his tasks. The production scrubbed all his reflections when he's dressed like this, but the only way I knew is because someone told me about it. It's subtle and very cool.

As a rule, the best way to get on online is to just +not+ assume other people are stupid or mad or horrible.

Please don't derail this thread with a discussion of Unbound. I'm not interested in talking to or about them, just in advertising their victims who could do with sales at Christmas.
We should put together a list of books you can buy this Christmas from authors who were robbed and had their careers sabotaged* by Unbound.
(*What makes me forever angry is that it's about so much more than money. You'd think people who read would be better at empathy and understanding.)

Thanks to all who have reposted this thread to help get the word out. The selling of these books "as new" on Amazon is making it more difficult for Unbound authors to rebuild what we lost and move on.
Quick note to anyone thinking of buying my books: please purchase the new Swift Press versions, NOT the relatively small number of Unbound versions still knocking about, & being sold by OOINYA. Unbound stopped paying me for my work early in 2024 and I will never see a penny for these books.

Whenever I see something about the Unbound fiasco I'm always haunted by the thought that Daniel Postgate, whose Clangers book was published by them, died with the situation unresolved. If anyone knows how to buy his book in such a way that it supports his family, it would be good to know

You can’t buy Be Funny Or Die cos it’s taken over a year to find a new home for it and the collapse knackered my plan to spend a year promoting the paperback. Which was frankly a pain in the dong.

But you can always have some Ladybirds etc, with bespoke scrawling.

Crowdfunding idea: I crowdfund the extra deposit I need to buy a house. But the only people who contribute to the crowdfunding are the CEOs of my defunct ex-publishers. The target will be the exact sum of money my defunct ex-publishers still owe me for the seven books I wrote for them.

I can’t work out why the defunct publishers didn’t just crowdfund the debt owed to the authors from their mates, by working like dogs to persuade generous people to help out, you know like the authors did in the first place to raise the money that was stolen.
