🚨 SANDAG wants to oppose SB 79 - a bill that would allow housing near transit!

Their own plan calls for EXACTLY this, but they're protecting NIMBY cities instead of working folks who can't afford homes.

San Diego has the largest outdoor musical instrument in the world, the #SpreckelsOrgan! I teared up to #Edelweiss in the #SoundOfMusic Medley played by Spanish organist #RaúlPrietoRamírez! His concert also featured Debussy, Bach, Liszt & Frank. It was a charmed, blue sky day too. 🩵☀️ #BalboaPark

i am quite sympathetic to the "abundance agenda" — we are a wealthy country! — but if the goal is to reshape the political order than i think its advocates need a vision for the constitutional order as well as a vision for public policy (cont.)
The Political Fight of the Century
For the first time in decades, America has a chance to define its next political order. Trump offers fear, retribution, and scarcity. Liberals can stand for abundance.

Not one more dime from me is they cave on this.
At this point, I think there needs to be a boycott of donations to all Senate Democrats until they force Chuck Schumer to step down as leader. Enough is enough.

In San Diego, the loss of several blocks of car-free street in downtown has angered local business owners. I understand the hesitancy, but they see the benefits once cars are excluded.

San Diego’s public transit system is at a crossroads. It can either become a world-class network or face cuts that leave people stranded. We need more investment in transit, not cuts. Our CEO @colinparent.bsky.social’s recent VOSD op-ed explains what's at stake: voiceofsandiego.org/2025/02/27/o...
Opinion: Public Transit in San Diego Is at a Crossroads. Its Future Hinges on Investments, Not Cuts.
Less frequent transit attracts fewer riders, leading to a 'death spiral,' with reduced revenues leading to more reduced services.

We need cheap rent so 23 year olds can make rent waiting tables 4 days a week and party 6 nights a week.
Great piece that confirms my priors: San Francisco is boring because 1) there are fewer young people; and 2) the young people who live here are focused on their highly remunerative careers.

The solution: build a lot more market-rate housing!

San Francisco’s 20-year-olds are abandoning the city, even when they can afford it. Some say it’s crushing the soul of the city.

Fun video about the Telo, a new electric minitruck that's the size of a two-door Mini Cooper.

The Telo's standard bed is 5 feet (same as a Ford Ranger). Its back seats can fold down to make a 8-foot bed (same as the F-150 "long bed" option).

. @acbowen.bsky.social shows journalists all over San Diego that it is in fact possible to report on ADUs outside of the "_____ project raises concerns" paradigm
Councilmember Jen Campbell held up a picture of an ADU development in Clairemont yesterday as an example of poor design.

I was at that exact ADU complex on Friday and spoke with a tenant, Sarah Agudo. She told me she loved her home and is glad it got built.
