Wow! This read-along of the NYT moment-by-moment leading to the murder of Alex Pretti should shake everyone awake. He was a Good Samaritan.

Agents fired at least ten shots in roughly five seconds. DHS and Pam Bondi claim Pretti approached them armed and intent on a “massacre.”

Given the appalling abuses of human rights around the world right now, as well as systemic animal rights abuses, maybe we can focus on living things that definitely can feel first?

The Dems chose not to have primaries twice in a row. But more importantly they chose to run a candidate who couldn’t win twice in a row. If you want 3rd party voters to vote for your candidate, listen to what they want in a candidate & then run one they can stand voting for. But you’d rather lose.
Not in the general, it's not. Refusing to vote or voting 3rd party (in a contested district) is just an abdication of responsibility that allows the most harmful option to come to pass. It absolutely betrays everyone who wouldn't be hurt if harm reduction wins. We have to use the primaries.

If people aren’t allowed to vote for a third party without fascism easily consolidating there were already problems in the system that would lead to fascism regardless of so and so’s individual choice

Deeply, deeply disappointed in this weak response.

It's like if Churchill had said Hitler should "reconsider his approach," instead of saying what he really did: "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender".
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

No, MN officials should not be working constructively with this regime! That’s how we got here. **They should be arresting and prosecuting every agent who commits a state crime.**

Assault, illegal search and seizure, and kidnapping are gateway drugs for murder by these cowardly thugs.

That second paragraph has big "good people on both sides" energy, and honestly, if that is what you have to bring to the situation, you can just as easily shut the fuck up.

it was never about the gun rights; it was always about the gun profits
Kash Patel: "You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple. You don't have a right to break the law." (Pretti was carrying a gun legally.)

So basically: We're only there to deport violent criminals and keep Minnesota safe, BUT give us all your voter data and we'll leave?
If you want proof that Trump is going to try to rig the elections, here it is:

In a letter to Gov. Tim Walz Saturday, Bondi claimed that Walz could “restore the rule of law” by complying with a list of demands, including giving the Department of Justice (DOJ) the state’s voter registration records.
AG Bondi demands access to Minnesota voter rolls after fatal Border Patrol shooting
Her demand came as Minneapolis was reeling from a second fatal shooting by a federal agent this month.

The NRA does not care about the right to own guns. They exist solely to protect the right to sell guns. This is why they fight gun restrictions after school shootings but don’t give a fuck about police murders of law-abiding gun owners.
The NRA is a gun rights organization the way the Ku Klux Klan is a speech rights organization.

continuing with the first time as tragedy, second time as farce aspect of all this insanity, it’s a nice touch that Brett Ratner is their Leni Rifenstahl
An insane, perfect encapsulation of it all:

The same day Trump’s agents kill a Veterans Affairs ICU nurse in broad daylight, the CEOs of Apple and Amazon join Trump to watch a private screening of a film about his wife directed by an alleged sexual abuser who was seen shirtless in the Epstein Files
