there’s an interesting thing we’ve done in our social circle as a result of Covid which is: now we let people know before social activities if anyone has any symptoms of anything potentially contagious, so everyone can make their own risk assessment

You know, before I got into tech and before I started working on the psychology of software teams I had only heard the stereotypes from the outside and the stereotypes are just so limiting. Like it's hard to wrap your head around how many identity barriers there are INSIDE of technical communities
So I think they underestimate and think it's just a bunch of bad libraries or crappy engineers
Instead of understanding that tackling it is hard & there's a reason why platform teams exist (to create a comprehensible layer on top of the infinite architectural possibilities so you can work with it)

I just listened to the most recent episode with Claire Saffitz and it really hits the spot. I think Hyperfixed has found its groove and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes!
@hyperfixedpod.bsky.social has been growing by leaps and bounds this past year. We’re going after bigger more ambitious stories, collaborating with amazing people & shows, and we’re currently at 3250 patrons! My hope is to get to 4,000 patrons by the end of the year, so I’m gonna try an experiment
