I wish I could remember who it was that said: In an almost unnoticed theological breakthrough, AI has inadvertently proven the existence of the human soul by showing us what art would look like without it.

When a chatbot gets something wrong, it’s not because it made an error. It’s because on that roll of the dice, it happened to string together a group of words that, when read by a human, represents something false. But it was working entirely as designed. It was supposed to make a sentence & it did.

A very offline cousin sent this to fam group chat. This story is breaking containment.
Oh! you magnificent fellow.
OK. Suggest you cgeck the constitution quite carefully for clarity about the role that a specific god is supposed to play in the governance of your nation.

If we wanted more of the same - all the racist lies and performative cruelty - we could have kept the Tories. Who votes Labour in the hope that the racism will continue? Why does Starmer think this is what he was elected to do?

I feel like the only people who should be allowed to tear down the White House are the Piscataway peoples upon whose ancestors’ land it sits and the descendants of the enslaved people who built it.

“There’s no way I’m bending the knee I have left for a king in America.”

Damn. Just … damn.
Retired Army Sgt. Brian Wofford spoke to me this morning at the Oklahoma City #NoKings protest. Didn’t expect him to be carrying his DD214 so I asked some warmup questions like when he got out and whether his injury was service-related.

He paused while describing the car bomb in Iraq to say this:

And the problem there, right, is that I see a lot of people — a LOT of people— who are excited about AI because they want to do things they don’t know how to do without having to learn how to do them

and this is why talking about this is so important. it’s why both of my thesis’ (thesi?) were about gg. it wasn’t a flash in the pan for shits and giggles - it had very real, very horrifying moments & consequences that continue to this day
It’s almost like GamerGate was openly a push to transform young republicans into the openly hitler loving groypers and Steve Bannon specifically did all that shit to me to make it happen

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Jews should not have been attacked in our places of worship on our holidays. Muslims should not collectively be blamed for it and face crackdowns on their civil liberties for it.
Re. So-called 'Artificial Intelligence', this thread neatly sums up why the Magic Sentence Generator is not a substitute for actual skill and intelligence. (Practice of law is the area covered but applicable to every other field I can think of.)
That's malpractice. You're you. You're who they're paying for. You have the bar number. Your ass is on the line. You owe a *duty* to stay in the game. It. Cannot. Replace. You.

One of the unexpected things I've learned from my advocacy for trans people is how malignant parts of the State can be, how it can misuse data for positively evil purposes. It's taught me people can't be safe with a digital ID card and so I've signed this. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/73...
Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards
We demand that the UK Government immediately commits to not introducing a digital ID cards. There are reports that this is being looked at.

Schrödinger's Shooter exists as both a deranged leftist motivated by dangerous rhetoric AND as a misunderstood troubled youth who needed Jesus until the waveform collapses

It's not a rejection of norms so much as a rejection of the internal checks that restrain the judiciary, and a repudiation of a basic, foundational premise of our whole system.

The wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is Tiggers are burning bright
Their tops are made out of rubber
In the forest of the night

They’re bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy,
Immortal hand or eye,
But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is their fearful symmetry!
