And just like that, 2000 e bikes roll out across Birmingham

In the 7 years we've had Beryl running our bike here we've barely lifted above 1000 bikes.

@andyburnham.bsky.social we are being short changed.

There will be a temporary closure/signed diversion in place tomorrow on the TPT in Stockport between the M60 bridge and the green footbridge to allow a large unsafe tree to be felled - likely to be closed for 2 or 3 days. @stockportcouncil.bsky.social @walkridestocky.bsky.social @walkridegm.org.uk

Simple yet ingenious electric bike hire in Caen, France.

Bikes are locked together like a trolley rack. Stops theft and vandalism.

If only Bee Network and @andyburnham.bsky.social would let us have such a clever and useful system

This scheme won @walkridegm.org.uk 2024 proposed scheme of the year, and is an important missing link from Irlam to the rest of Salford, continuing the existing A57 shared route.

Without this scheme, the rapidly growing Port Salford will become increasingly locked into car dependency.

Promising initial data from the #Oxford - city centre footfall up, city centre traffic and bus journeys down. Yet more evidence that if you want to make #PublicTransport work, it's not if you need a #CongestionCharge but when. We need this in Greater Manchester.

Community: Can we put in a protected bike lane to get more people cycling.

City: No, we'll lose parking spots.

Coronation Street-themed Kidical Mass, anyone?
I wrote about the Netflix CicLAvia buyout and how the Branding of Everything™ during LA's megaevent era has now become our reality — but it's less about the unavoidable commercialism that's already seeped into our major events, and more about who sets the standards that align with our values
The upside down

Back in 2020, Stockport Council consulted on a walking and cycling scheme along (or occasionally parallel to) the A34. It was a mixed bag, but local campaigners supported it with several caveats.

It’s back for another consultation – because part of the scheme is being dropped.
