The whole Graceland album is a masterpiece
Happy birthday! 😁🎁🎆🎉

In the Philippines, we mostly call aunts “tita” and this includes even your parent’s friends. Anyway this is Filipina drag artist Tita Baby. She is your tita now.

Please admire this gorgeous commission @panodtortur.bsky.social did of one of my favorite scenes from @teadragonhoard.bsky.social's Warden Port! Fyi this epic and magical fic could be read any time, but it's particularly nice for spooky season: archiveofourown.org/works/604765...
(More below 😊)
Cosign on Persuasion. I didn't include it because it kinda cut close to the bone for me, tbh.
Oh that's right, my copies of Maurice and Orlando are still with you
He got me too on Pratchett, Sayers, Peake
And finally, 10. #Gormenghast, by Mervyn Peake. The second book in the Gormenghast Trilogy, and imho its most consequential one. While young Titus Groan is a bit of a drip, you're here for the drama of Steerpike/Fuchsia. The climactic fight to the death in the floodwaters of Gormenghast? HELL YEAH
9. Gaudy Night by #DorothyLSayers. A poison-pen mystery set in an Oxford's women's college, what really got me here is the portrait of Harriet Vane, Novelist, wrestling with the eternal struggle over writing for a living vs writing that pulls at the soul, and Peter Wimsey's cutting the Gordian Knot:
So it's NOT the only Star Trek books I've kept over the years, haha
But they haven't been with me as long as Imzadi has
You realize I have that specific book--and its sequel--in the upstairs bookshelf, yes? 😆
8. Lord of Light by #RogerZelazny. The opening lines: "His followers called him Mahasamatman and said he was a god. He preferred to drop the Maha- and the -atman, however, and called himself Sam." A very Zelazny trick that only he could pull off--bringing sacred cows (and gods) to the level of man.
7. #TheManualofDetection by Jedediah Berry. An unassuming clerk in a major detective agency must step into the shoes--and dreams--of the agency's greatest detective. Fittingly, it's set in a world that is slightly out of focus, not quite real, not quite Borges but a good attempt at it. Charming.
6. #TheScarletPimpernel by Baroness Orczy. The Richmond chapter! *fans self* The confrontation on the terrace! Her tearful confession and his outward coldness but inner YEARNING! Kissing the flagstones as she walks away from him! As the kids here used to say, "laglag-panty" (a panty-dropper)
4. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by #JohnLeCarre. I adore Cold War spy stories, and this is the undisputed masterpiece.

5. A Surfeit of Lampreys by #NgaioMarsh. It's the only Roderick Alleyn book I've reread countless times. It's basically a bottle episode with England's Most Charming Family.
3. The Truth by Terry Pratchett. It was SO HARD to choose ONE #Discworld novel 😭It's the City Watch books I adore but I love this because A-M political corruption and intrigue would normally be a Watch thing but it's the nascent press that uncovers it and The Truth Makes Ye Fret
2. A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold. Part of the #VorkosiganSaga (and Part 3 of the Miles in Love trilogy). Swashbuckling aristocrat/space admiral/Peter Dinklage personal fancast/spy is a complete moron when it comes to romance. And we haven't even gotten to the butterbugs shenanigans yet!
This is my LESS-worn-out copy of Gormenghast; the other one no longer has a front OR a back cover. It's in worse shape that its prequel OR sequel!

Peter David ❤️this led me directly to Spider-Man 2099, believe it or not😆
1. Imzadi by Peter David. I bought this brand new when I was a wee tween in the early 90s and it's the ONE #StarTrek book I've kept over the decades. AU shenanigans! Young love lost and found again! Charlie Brown, ancient Earth philosopher! Captain Data of the Enterprise-F!
VERY difficult to choose only ONE book from those three here 😅
@paolomanalo.bsky.social challenged me to a #10NovelsToGetToKnowMe on Discord. (I think I did this here before? This is probably a slightly different list now.)

My self-imposed rule: Book series don't count as one title; choose one you love best in the whole series.

Titles in the alt text.

Designer: all right Mr. Del Toro here’s those Frankenstein’s monster designs, real sexy just like you asked for.
Del Toro: (nodding) this is exactly as sexy as I asked for.
