I'm on couch rest bc I sprained my ankle on Monday but I'm using this time to watch a live stream from a paleontologist team digging up dinosaur bones (they've found an egg!!!!). And also my deep ocean live stream is back! I deserved this amount of fun in my enclosure 💖

Ed is still getting his racewalking lesson from Stede! I almost posted a snip without any words like "gyrations," "wiggle," or "magical pelvis" but then I realized the error of my ways.

Ed feels himself relaxing into the stride, concentrating less, letting his body find the motion. He relishes in the warmth in his muscles, in the way he can practically feel the oxygen flowing through him, to every forgotten nook and cranny of his ramshackle frame. He knows that you don't really get endorphins from a workout this short, that's been debunked, but he swears something is happening in his brain. A new chemical is pinging around in there, and it makes him want to smile and smile and smile until his face hurts from the unfamiliar stretch. He feels like a different person than he did just a few hours ago. Like he's broken through something hard and brittle, emerged soft and new, crunchy fragments left behind in his wake, littering the bouncy, rust-red track.
They are in the final straightaway now, and Ed can feel Stede beside him subtly pushing the pace. As they both wiggle their hips towards down the track, Ed cannot believe that he’s ended up here, gone from admiring a beautiful sparkle of a man with a magical pelvis, to circling a track with said magical sparkle-man, moving with the most ridiculous gyrations ever created by humans. They burst over the finish line, Ed just about ready to collapse, but he’s suddenly supported by an arm clapped across his back.
“You won,” says Stede with a grin.

"Stede! What did you bring in, and can it rival any of these other 'best faces'?" Ed's smile was genuine, and Stede could do this.

"Well, Taskmaster, I brought in my onesie from home. I usually sleep in nightshirts but my kids gave me a onesie and I love it. Then I found out that I could get them bespoke printed! So here's my onesie." Stede gestured at the screen, and let out a relieved breath at the absolute roar of laughter that greeted the image.

It was a photo of Stede, shooting finger guns at the camera, clad in a purple onesie that had Ed's face - taken from the same photo he'd used previously for 'Edward Teach All Over Your Neck' - printed on it from clavicle to groin. Stede risked a glance at Ed, whose unblinking gaze was fixed on the screen, and wondered if he should have chosen a different photo. Maybe one of the Taskmaster publicity stills would have been a better idea, not a photo Ed had shared privately with him.

Well, that was a far-too-late-to-do-anything-about-it-now thought, wasn't it?

Izzy asked Ed, "Any thoughts on Stede's 'best face', Taskmaster?"

Ed cleared his throat before he addressed Stede. Ed's voice was a little tight, and he smoothed down his tie a couple of times as he spoke. "I, uh, appreciate a good onesie with the best of them, mate, but I've gotta say, if you're naked underneath that—"

"Oh!" Stede cried out, interrupting Ed. He absolutely had to correct that thought, for any number of reasons, but mostly because it led so nicely into his reveal. He could feel himself flushing at the thought of Ed wondering out loud if Stede had been naked, even when he knew it was for the laugh. They were both comedians, everything they did was for the laugh.

"I'm not naked underneath it, don't worry. I've got, uh, other things on underneath it."

Ed raised an imperious eyebrow, at odds with his slightly strangled tone when he asked, "'Other things'? Are you gonna elaborate, or—"

"Yes!" Stede squeaked out, leaping to his feet. He unzipped his brown leather jacket to reveal a tight-fitting purple t-shirt which was covered in smaller versions of Ed's face. "I also got a t-shirt made," he said. "But that's not all!" Stede's hands fell to the button of his jeans, and he suddenly found that he couldn't look at Ed while he was doing this, instead dropping his gaze as he toed off his Chelsea boots and wriggled out of his jeans. He'd chosen his loosest pair, but still found himself breathy with exertion by the time they were in a pile on the floor.

He flung out his arms and, as the audience's howls of laughter increased in volume, did a small turn on the spot, displaying the long johns he was wearing, printed with small images of Ed's face. Breathless, he plopped back down into his chair, panting, "This is the whole package."

Ed had barely been able to believe his eyes when Stede began stripping off his clothes. It wasn't like he hadn't seen Stede undress before, but there was something perversely intimate about him wearing Ed's face all over his body that Ed found completely overwhelming.

And how the fuck was Ed supposed to respond to, "This is the whole package"? Stede had often been oblivious to the way he sounded, though over the years he'd become less so. Still. Stede might have been knowingly flirting with Izzy in some of the location tasks, but what the fuck was he doing with these prize tasks? Did he simply not realise that every single one felt like a message? Why keep using that particular image?

Ed was distracted from those questions by an internal debate as to whether he should mention that the fabric of the long johns was very thin. "Those are really quite skintight, aren't they, mate?" he heard himself asking, mouth running ahead of his brain. "You really are just…bobbling around in there." Thank fuck everyone laughed, because Ed couldn't believe he'd just said that.

That he'd just admitted to staring at Stede's crotch where it was encased in thinly stretched fabric, Ed's face winking back at him from between Stede's legs. And then, oh fuck, Stede had stood up, quickly adjusting the material so it wasn't quite so…exposing, and he could feel his face heating, a rush of blood thrumming in his ears.

Ed's mouth was still on auto-pilot, luckily with his joke brain in charge, because fuck knows what would get blurted out if Ed's Id had the wheel. "Jesus, Stede. Really going for that five, aren't you? Put it away, good gods."
