This is the best pie story, or at least a leading contender
OK - pie discourse - best pie story:

In 2016, we were living in Andover, in the UK. My wife was assigned as an exchange officer at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop (yes, really).*

The US Army has a tradition: senior leaders, in dress uniform, serve junior troops Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanks. What’s fun is that as far as I can tell the U.S. Supreme Court has never used the term “exceedingly limited” in any circumstance, and it’s just not a term that is often used to describe a standard of review or role in reviewing decisions.

Space photographer Andrew James McCarthy @ajamesmccarthy.bsky.social has captured many epic images of celestial bodies, but this may be his greatest: a perfectly timed photo of a skydiving friend with the sun behind him (shot w/ equipment revealing great solar detail).

I have a strong suspicion that someone used an AI summary here. The phrase “exceedingly limited” in this context appears in an article by Judge J. Michael Luttig, in The Atlantic. But the cite gets the context completely wrong. Here’s what Judge Luttig says:
Question about the dissent by (the far-right) Justice Ziegler: Does this quote actually appear in Moore v. Harper? Did Moore say that state courts' role in congressional redistricting is "exceedingly limited"? I don't think it did! vhdshf2oms2wcnsvk7sdv3so.blob.core.windows.net/thearp-media...

Sen. Murkowski has a lot of constituents in the military (Alaska and Hawaii are highest in terms of proportion to population I think), GOP senators in other states with high military populations should feel pressure to say something.

I loved both the art on the paperbacks (these) and the wraparound covers by Evaline Ness on the hardcovers (this is a set I sold a while back, but I collect and clean/restore these and other books)

Per multiple sources:

Two hours after ruling that Lindsey Halligan was unlawfully appointed to her post as US Atty in Virginia, prosecutors in the office were notified to put name of an assistant U.S. Atty atop cases

At 430p, instruction was reversed. They were told to resume using Halligan’s name

This article seemed to have caused you a lot of strain, and yet I don’t think you ever tried to answer this basic question from RFK Jr. properly: “Why for 15 years have they refused to have a conversation with me? I’ve been asking for 15 years for somebody to come up and debate me on this”

Oh god it’s an longtermist’s defense of the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, it’s giving Silicon Valley visionary drivel crossed with the bowing and scraping of a courtier before a monarch (not forgetting to shuffle backwards out of the throne room on the way out)

I figure Ken Burns has one, maybe two big documentary series in him before he fully retires. What do you think they should be? My votes include Football, Hip-Hop, World War 1, Reconstruction (though Skip Gates did this one well), Iraq/Afghanistan, 19th Century Expansionism.
