Ten years ago, the Iraqi government unmasked ISIS terrorists on TV and made them answer questions like why they joined ISIS and if they regretted it now that they were in prison.

Just an idea.
This video is the perfect encapsulation of the illegal, thuggish, unprovoked, violent conduct of ICE. Rep. @benniethompson.bsky.social, I trust that you and the House Homeland Security Committee will have interest in this.

Good evening!

If it, uhhh, if it is a good evening. Which I doubt.

New at The Evening Constitutional, I wrote about the stakes of the fight about Renee Good's murder. They're real big!

What Happens If We Lose?
It's something I've been thinking about a lot in the five days since the murder of Renee Good. Because it has become clear that the reaction to her killing, the protests, the government response, has ...

Two stats I just saw (and double checked)
DHS says they're mobilizing 2000 ICE agents (not sure if this has been independently confirmed given their propensity to lie and exaggerate, but they've certainly sent hundreds)

It literally is just an occupying army. @joshtpm.bsky.social is completely right: no need to be precious about what is technically a military occupation or not. That's all that this is.

I’ve been sadder, more depressed, more anxious many times in my life.

But after the ICE Gestapo invasion of our city this week, I don’t think I’ve ever been ANGRIER. Actively fighting what seems to be an unhealthy level but also holding on to what feels sane and appropriate.

It’s fun, man.

Ok so the only problems with the murders in the Caribbean are:

1) no authority
2) no Congressional approval
3) civilian targets
4) no war
5) no evidence of drugs
6) no evidence of threat to US
7) stranded survivor killing
8) perfidy

Is that it?

norms around perfidy are a key reason why combatants in global wars very rarely shoot down civilian aircraft that may overfly the area.

Hegseth and Trump 2.0 are trying to destroy these life-saving norms.

Two closely related points.
• The regime doesn't give a shit that it's putting civies in danger, all these chuds live behind the wire.
• The regime gives a similar number of shits about the Goon Squad – they're practically begging someone to try a Castle Doctrine to escalate.
2/2

It’s not as arbitrary as you might think. The point is to keep obvious civilians from ever being a legitimate target. If you’re an intentionally shooting at civilians, you can’t claim “They were soldiers in disguise!”

It puts _your own_ civilians at risk.

Claiming that they do support this does nothing but further GOP talking points. Do not do free labor for evil.

They handed out cards bearing the names of people killed by ICE in this second Trump era.

There are a lot of cards.

Always ask yourself: who profits?

No surprise that in the case of mass detention camps, it’s one of Trump’s billionaire buddies.

It's shameful, un-American, and the exact opposite of everything our community stands for.
