Remember, AI is fucking garbage and lies.
If you search TikTok for Hurricane Melissa videos right now, you'll see a flood of AI-generated and fake videos.

These AI videos include eye of the storm views from above, sharks swimming in floodwaters, huge waves battering towns, destroyed airports, and fake news reports.

I interrupt your doomscrolling for a heartwarming update: Notre Dame, which is generally unavailable for private events, is hosting a wedding...for one of the carpenters who helped rebuilt it after the fire. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FH7D...

I saw someone call Ai a Thneed and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a PERFECT analogy. The Thneed was an all-purpose tool that didn't do anything really useful. It was a fad that did major damage to the environment to make the Onceler a billionare. It left no real lasting impact, only damage.

Takaichi is willing to look stupid internationally for a performative Nobel endorsement for Trump and stands to curry trade talk favor with the U.S. But at some point you have to stand for some kind of morality beyond transactional politics. The world has taken a rightward lurch into darkness.
President Donald Trump appears to have picked up another Nobel Peace Prize nomination — this time from the new Japanese prime minister, Sanae Takaichi.

Takaichi is the latest in a string of foreign leaders who have said they would nominate Trump for the award. bit.ly/4o6SnXr

Part of the reason that it's hard to "adult" right now is that most of what you're expected to do in "adulting" is activity to set up a stable future.

But most of us have felt for a long time that stability is a lie being told to us with enough "one in a lifetime" disasters every 6 months...

A lot of the scammers/romance scammers who create fake profiles to win people's trust to ask them from money, or for nudes to extort them for money, or who hack into people's accounts & take them over are human trafficked people who were looking for tech work & kidnapped. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Border Patrol chief Gregg Bovino is testifying in federal court today. I hope the judge asks Bovino about his agents ignoring her orders to use body cams.

I've found case after case.

I know b/c i long reported on body-cams. No flashing light = not on.

Here's another.

And more below.

Honestly at some point you have to start doing psyops with these people:

Have Obama announce that he will seek a third term tomorrow. Then watch all the con law “scholars” and Fix News MELT DOWN trying to explain why he can’t but Trump can. (It’s like Newsom taking over his social media persona)
Q: One theory on how you might try to serve a 3rd term is that you could run at the vice president

TRUMP: Yeah, I'd be allowed to do that. But I would rule that out because it's too cute.

Where's the premier while MLAs rush through an all-night debate on stripping Albertans of their Charter rights?

An airport lounge, waiting for a flight to Saudi Arabia. She didn't even bother to show up for the vote.

I remember when conservatives turfed premiers for this level of hubris.
Life update: After 25 years, by doctor suggested that it might be time to end my taking antidepressant. I stopped seeing a psychiatrist four years ago, so this is the next big step in my mental health journey. Maybe I'll need to go back on them, but I'll never know if I don't try.
I read this line, and the comic geek in me ponders, "What coloured Lantern Corp would AOC belong to?"
“It’s always in the darkest chapters when the brightest lights emerge.”
Shhh! But white people might one day be able to be billionaires themselves if they just work hard enough, right? *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*
*WHITE* Millennials and Gen Z, only please.
"Excuse me for calling, Mr. Davis, but this is the dry cleaners calling. Your white hood and robes are ready for you to pick-up."
May I present a former clerk to Justice Gorsuch.
