@xehtfodrol.bsky.social
I do restaurants, people watching, whiskey, and beer. Always wearing a kilt except for when I'm not. Father to the best child in existence, I'll fight you.

Here for a lot of things, not here for some things.

You literally will never convince me there are well meaning negotiators on the GOP side of the aisle, not for this.

Have you been asleep for the last fucking decade+?
Well-meaning negotiators on both sides of the aisle could likely agree to tweaks to ACA premium tax credits. But, trying to upend the structure during open enrollment with out-of-pocket premiums poised to more than double is like trying to retrofit a plane mid flight.

I was told the Dems were not cowardly when they caved on the shutdown and that people would be fed.

Are you trying to tell me this isn't true!?

The 2 people I see working in any one Walgreens must be making bank if cutting their paid vacation time is a meaningful cost saver for a Private Equity firm that bought the company for $10Bn in a leveraged buyout.
Is this good? It doesn't seem good.

"Walgreens will no longer give many of its retail workers paid vacation time for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other major holidays, as the company looks to cut costs under new owners."

the faux solidarity disgusts me. she's gonna stay, her much whiter team is going to stay, the christmas party will be cordial, and absolutely nothing will change. EVERYONE who ever works anywhere is "passionate, whip smart, talented" etc etc when they get laid off
We built a team of young Black, Asian, queer, and trans staffers at Teen Vogue, and they deserve the world. They are passionate, whip smart, and incredibly talented. Many of them are now without jobs — please consider donating to their GoFundMe: www.gofundme.com/f/help-laido...

So they commissioned a guy to write about Bond but hasn't seen any of the movies where they constantly change who Bond is, all the time

I value his opinion!
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.

And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?

Take a bow, @schumer.senate.gov, you did this.

In a significantly weirder case, "Sleeping Lady with Black Vase" is a 1928 oil painting by Róbert Berény. It was lost in WWII, and considered looted by the Nazis and likely destroyed afterwards in the chaos... until someone recognized it as set dressing in the movie "Stuart Little."

Yes, really.

Apropos of nothing in particular: SHOES

Per the FEMA training I took 30 years ago, the one thing that best ensures your survival in a disaster is whether you made it out of the building with shoes on.

Everything else can just be scrap-wraps, but shoes are high-tech. Put them on first, then run.

Worth noting that with the dismantling of USAID, Musk killed more children than the IDF
In which a man responsible for the deaths of 600,000 so far, mostly children, whines about an octogenarian novelist's observation (which she says was about ultrafiche men in general, not the whiner in particular).

But the idea of burning American Eagle jeans at a bonfire does sound dope, is it dangerous to burn denim?
