I hadn't heard of it either but googled it and apparently it's when the story is told from the point of view of a collective group, as in "we" and "us"

Personally prefer the normal book smell (I love the scent of old books in particular) but the idea of an artificial fragrance in the pages.... Kinda puts me off 🙃
