The thing about the cost of healthcare to the people who need it, Roger Marshall, is that THERE SHOULD BE NONE.

Healthcare should be a human right, you unbelievably vile sacks of ambulatory excrement!

One of the more harrowing things I witnessed as an EMT was watching my paramedic grab the phone from a weeping family member of the patient having a heart attack on the floor, to tell the insurance company that no, we would NOT bypass 3 other hospitals to go to their "approved" facility.
Also this comparison shopping idea is ridiculous. A ridiculous part of my husband’s job is convincing someone at his hospital or another one that they should admit his patient into their service and then arguing with three people and forcing them to talk to each other so one of them finally agrees.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

I would just like to note, for those of us constantly sick at heart in these times, that when the text of laws say crap like, "permanently [does this terrible bigoted thing]", it doesn't *actually* mean "permanently" - it means "until better humans take office & legislate a solution".

Hi. January will make it a year my spouse has been trying to find re-employment. 100s of apps, 1 interview.

Is anyone *actively, actually hiring*, who'd like to speak with a guy who has years of broad experience encompassing project & office mgmt, editing, teaching, website text maintenance, etc.?

This guy has wildly escaped containment and I love that people like it, but to reiterate:
1.Yes you can get it as a tattoo.
2.No you cannot sell craft patterns or merch
3.I appreciate the mistake and yes I do have the personality of a morose victorian poet, but this is from 2024 and under copyright.

BREAKING: All House Democrats have signed our discharge petition to extend the ACA tax credits.

That makes 214.

We can protect health care and lower costs — if only 4 Republicans will join us.

If you can, please consider donating to their GoFundMe. The money is going to union members this holiday so they can buy groceries and pay rent while they fight for a fair contract.

If MiUSA means anything at all, it must mean good paying jobs for workers.

Disappointed to see this. 160 union workers are fighting for a fair contract at Individualized Shirts, a US factory that makes high-end men's button-ups. The managers there have rejected the union's request for fair wages and health insurance. The union is asking for support 🧵

Statehood for D.C. is an ethical obligation at this point, required to protect the rights of our residents to govern ourselves against such out-of-state troops being sent to patrol our city.
NEW: Republican-led states, in a new filing at the D.C. Circuit, say D.C. residents are irrelevant, D.C. belongs to everyone else. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The filing is led by the South Carolina and West Virginia attorneys general. Both states sent troops to DC.

how is it possible that That Billionaire Who Ruined The Bird Site has all the money on earth, but always looks SO BAD? That tuxedo photo is just wild to me; the simplest dressy uniform there is, & you can't even do THAT with any elegance or (haha) elan?

it really, truly hit me tonight that we are most likely going to lose the house.

I don’t know what else to do.

I’m overwhelmed, exhausted, heartbroken, angry, & SO heartily sick of literally everything being so unrelentingly awful for so long now that I can’t remember the last time it was not.

Deaf and Deaf-adjacent folks, I need some help.

I have a student who needs to hire a writing coach that specialises in helping folks who are primarily ASL speakers write in English. Where do I look to find one who is able to assist with dissertation-level academic writing? Does anyone know someone?

Hey PA residents: Go vote! Vote YES to retain the state supreme court judges. They're one of the last things keeping democracy going in PA, and if PA falls the Dems' chances to disrupt GOP power in 2026 and 2028 fade pretty hard.
