"Hey let's report on farmers adding pollution to a water supply so bad it causes cancer, frame an unrelated actor and put cancer cells over an image of him"

This is so disrespectful to the victims. The people actually causing the cancer should be socially punished, not get off free. Insane.

Techno thriller FPS where you play an elite black ops commando unraveling a sinister corporate conspiracy. The end twist is that there is no sinister conspiracy, it’s a normal corporation doing R & D, your CO is just insane and you murdered hundreds of security guards for no reason.

It's quite depressing that we're not allowed to have nice things that save women's lives and bodies because it's now a moral imperative to oppose linear algebra.

Marx disagreed. Of the luddites he wrote:

"It took both time and experience before the workpeople learnt to distinguish between machinery and its employment by capital, and to direct their attacks, not against the material instruments of production, but against the mode in which they are used."

The thing about CrunchyRoll’s enshittification is that normally I’m a big proponent of supporting official channels but if the money from subscriptions isn’t being used to pay talent and labour and the quality suffers as a result, then morally what’s the purpose of supporting those official means?

If telling the troops not to follow illegal orders is “sedition,” what do we call colluding with the Kremlin to manipulate the U.S. President into advancing Russian interests over America’s?

The "freedom of speech" and "freedom of religion" conservatives out there again blocking both because it's not their speech or their religion.

It's not just porn or Pride flags anymore. Other religions are now "harmful to minors"

It always starts as a nugget of truth (many ride share apps are bad, it is a bad replacement for public transit; Amazon engages in monopolistic and deceptive bus ends practices) and ends up somewhere farrrr off the deep end like “ride shares are never useful”

part of being a leftist is resigning yourself to prominent sentiments in the left being reactionary, ineffectual, and completely out of touch with wider society. is there something new here?
i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

As I said earlier, expensive electricity is a policy choice, not an inevitable product of AI

If this can happen under Trump, imagine the possibilities under someone who actually gives a shit

People have always been fundamentally irrational - socially conveyed ideas have always superseded observable reality. But modern liberal democracy was made possible by epistemological structures, in the form of media institutions and political norms, that promoted fact and truth. They have collapsed
But that's the electorate we've got, and have always had. Humans have never been rational or fact-driven.

There's a rumor that the Apple 27 operating systems will focus on bug fixes and performance improvements over new features.

This is long overdue. Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion were great back in the day.

The fact that they make any of the consumer friendly or at least unhostile actions they do is a rare blessing

5 years ago I thought autonomous vehicles were vaporware that the owner of a certain car company was hyping to undermine public transit.

Since then, Waymo has proven that AV tech actually does work, even in dense cities. This opens up interesting new policy challenges and opportunities!
Cars are bad for cities, they're bad in lots of ways that widespread AV adoption won't help and could actually make worse.

You can make that argument without insisting on things that really aren't true!

I hate this sort of meme.

“The only difference between the parties is whether the power to destroy human civilization rests in the hands of leaders who think gays, women, and black people should have their rights acknowledged.”

Even if true, how is Rainbow B-52 not infinitely preferable?

What's really starting to come into view is that "online tankies" aren't even really that radically communist, it's just people with anti-American sentiments who are also culturally-4chan.

If you press them, they're absolutely racist, misogynistic, transphobic, and homophobic. That's their culture.
Fine. You all win. I’m logging off for the day because I‘m a big smelly man who’s also a Nazi and a bigot because I liked it better when Groypers didn’t have 1,770 nuclear weapons on hair-trigger alert. Feel free to brag in your discords about how my jimmies have been rustled and I was owned.
