Gawker was sued out of existence by billionaires who didn't want to be investigated by really good journalists who had the perfect rolodexes to get dirt on a pervert cabal and maybe upend their whole new world order. It isn't a scandal sheet you dope.
Gawker is dead because it did not color inside the lines of the Constitution while doing the things that made people want Gawker dead. 🤷‍♂️ Lots of other scandal sheets are still around because they did that better.

It's near-white out conditions in Chicago as the snow comes down, and tonight's anti-ICE/CBP rally is wrapping up in front of city hall.

But not before the crowd bounces and chants, "I believe that we will win!"

The characteristics that make a good Fed Chair — honesty, integrity, objectivity, humility, being a sharp reader of the data, collaboration, transparency, thoughtful communication — are all things Trump doesn’t like.

You know what's funny is I paid lord know how much to go to business school to learn about stuff like corporate governance and valuation modeling...

...and that knowledge is just useful to laugh at who can violate them the most
yes, we're at that stage of the plate-spinning to keep things from collapsing for Musk, I think:

The obvious solution for Trump’s Fed dilemma is to name Stephanie Kelton as Chair, and when the WSJ op-ed and the FX, TIPS and maybe nominals markets freak out, insist that he told Bessent to appoint Judy Shelton.

A lot of ways Trump could amp up the Fed threats here - up to and including nominating himself

Remember, Rieder was trading at 1 cent a little more than a month ago

It is now taking a legit weirdly long time to nominate a new Fed chair.

The combo of
- knows what they're doing
- won't spook the market
and
- is willing to do whatever the boss wants

is clearly hard to find

Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”

Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.

The TACO cycle:

Markets want to price in TACO. But TACO only works if Trump sees stocks tank.

So we get a loop: Trump does things → nothing happens (markets already priced in TACO) → that emboldens him to do more → until markets start to think he might not TACO → stocks fall → TACO is restored.
