listening to the @youaregood.bsky.social episode on THE OTHERS (one of my favorite films). Last night I watched another quiet, ominous, well-lit film with a similar (but not identical) intimate, domestic, creepy feeling called QUEEN OF BONES.

Scam or anti-scam? For the estimable @lukeoneil47.bsky.social's Welcome to Hell World, I wrote about HBO's dueling fall comedies, I Love LA and The Chair Company, and their very different approaches to making a living in a society built on lying.

Stoked to check all of these out!
Alex, you mentioned liking Xmas movies that lean more into sad or dark, so I must recommend 3 to you:

The Wolf of Snow Hollow
Christmas, Again (2014)
White Reindeer

The Wolf & Christmas, Again are 2 of my fav Xmas movies ever. Just re-listened to the Bad Santa ep so this has been on my mind to do!

I love that the design is heavily Goth-coded.
It’s church music. It’s pop music. It’s movie soundtrack music.

I just recorded an episode about grief and unfortunately it won't be out until January but it is one of my very favorite conversations of all time. I can't wait to share it.

A lot of folks have both understandable and justifiable beef with Fey, along with receipts. It's something I was long aware of but not well-versed in, and so much of this show is—
more than anything—about responding to a guest's response to / relationship with the text itself.
Alex was kinder to Tina Fey than I would've been tbh

Super quick reminder that Alex (me) and @nikostratis.com host a show that is ostensibly about The OC and actually about being alive in this world.
Did you know that @nikostratis.com and I are hosting a recap show about The OC? It's called The OC, Again. Just to recap, it's a recap show about The OC. The first episode just came out.

There is only so much room in my brain and a lot of it is already taken up with The State quotes.

(I am so old I was a full-blown adult in the early 2000s.)

I have watched 1 Fast & Furious movie in my entire life.

And yet, every time they cover one of these movies I nearly bust a rib from laughing so hard.
