A dramaturg I worked with last year in North Carolina had his ten-minute play accepted at that region’s KCACTF, and he emailed me asking if I would be the dramaturg for it in February. Unfortunately I can’t (I moved), but damn it feels good to be asked.

I know lots of people have their hands out for $$ but this little guy is only a year old. He was fostered by the same person who cared for my Watson, Mystery & Lestrade #CatSky

They still don’t know what’s wrong 😿

He’s a Halloween cat, so his name is Oogie Boogie

Y'all... the very well-funded shelter an hour away currently has $16,290 in donations right now, and my shelter has: $325.

If there is any way to convince you to help out an underdog, please, please :-) I'll reward you with cute animal pictures forever.

Well. I just finished my first graduate poetry workshop. Have a conference with my professor next Thursday; just need to write my reflection. I really can’t believe I made it this far considering how many other things I’ve given up on.

I’m almost 50 and Netflix has recommended this to me every day for mover a month now. Maybe during winter break I’ll get to it. My 70 year old former professor adores it.
I have a new movie recommendation for you. “The Thursday Murder Club” stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Bronson, Ben Kingsley and a STACKED ensemble. It’s about nursing home residents who solve cold cases and then end up working a new case.

It’s fun and cozy! Netflix should be promoting but… yeah.

I’ve got to find a way to get this cat to let me sleep. Instead he spends hours at night sitting directly in front of my face, staring at me. Last night he moved behind me and pulled my hair out of its little sleepy bun. I adore him but that is all too much for the end of the semester 😭

Made myself a little hot toddy with some ginger lemon tea etc, not feeling weird or sad about going to bed early-ish this time. December is my deceleration lane — really should have been November. Finals start next week. I’m making measured progress on my assignments. Rest is imminent.

Welp. The first Yale letters of recommendation have been submitted. So I can’t back out of my application now.

I do. I know I do.

Woke up super early (thanks, kitty) and fell back asleep unexpectedly so I’m keeping up my tradition of starting ahead, ending just in the nick of time!

In mid-December 1998, my beloved granddad died at age 65. I was 22. He’s now been gone longer than I ever had him. I think about him daily. The last time I saw him, he came to my house from Indiana and we had Thanksgiving dinner on my good Lenox china. He told me he was proud of me.

I grew up in the Sandia foothills in Albuquerque and remember, in the 1980s, first freezes happening in mid-October, right after the Balloon fiesta (which had very cold mornings & required gloves/hats). But state fair mornings — September, from what I remember — were already chilly.
It FINALLY happened: #Albuquerque had its first freeze of the season on November 30, breaking the previous latest first freeze date by a huge *8 days*!
