The first IREX ferry would have been online THIS WEEKEND if Nicola did not cancel them

Now we have 4 more years of dodgy shit while we wait for the TEMU option....
Boy am I glad the first replacements for these ferries will be arriving in Feb 2026, with port upgrades at Picton and Wellington nearing completion after two and a half years of work.

Oh wait, hold on a second, just hearing that ferries won't be here until 2029.

I was NORML NZ's political nerd in the 2000s when I researched and submitted to the Health select committee when they were looking at roadside drug testing. I recommended a 9 nanogramme threshold for cannabis impairment. Around three times what is proposed. This is drug snobbery.

Thoughts for over the summer barbecue; y'know what I really miss? Becoming a republic. Getting away the the Royals. Supreme Court seems to work. No Privy Council shitting on us remotely. MMP is still a work in progress but still less worse than UK's FPP fappery and the US gerrymander. 1/2

I'd bike that for a dollar.
Cycle tourism is one of the strongest drivers of New Zealand's regional economy. Trails around the country currently generate $1.2 billion annually and are projected to reach $2 billion within a few years. 1/4

This is what National means by asset sales after the next election. There's sweet FA left to sell off, except Landcorp and DOC land. All hail the landlords and billionaire bunker builders.
This govt clearly holds bad intentions towards DOC lands, built heritage, & environmental pollution standards. It's giving itself the tools to ignore you, the public, and experts, so it can fast track crown administered lands for asset stripping incl. resale to mineral exploiters and billionaires.3/

I used to have a photo of Roger Douglas and Ruth Richardson attending an Act conference in Otautahi in the 1990s, but I can't prove it. It was a cursed image so I burned it.

Reminder that juror fees have not been increased since 2004 (yes 21 years ago). The maximum payable is $127 for more than 3 hours and beyond 9 pm.

The usual daily rate is $62 for more than 3 hours but not beyond 6 pm.

Jury duty is obviously nowhere near as important as being on a board.
