🛑The world is far off track on methane cuts.

A new #UN report shows countries are on pace to deliver only 8% reductions by 2030.

💀Methane is responsible for a 1/3 of global warming & drives lethal air pollution.

This is a great example of what not do to when you write a headline—especially a cover story.

This is irresponsible. He is not in science he’s against science. He’s killing people because he is so AGAINST science.

Press—do better. Do not repeat their messaging. Do not repeat the lies.
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

It is very hard to overstate the evil of the fossil fuel industry.

When people finally do figure it out, it may be too late to undo the damage.
U.N. climate talks fizzle out 10 years after Paris accord
Nearly 200 countries at the U.N. climate summit reached a deal that didn’t include a road map to curtail use of fossil fuels, the main driver of climate change.

Thank you for sharing this. The only note I’d wish to share is rather than “missed opportunities” and the “missed decade” I think many would agree that because of deliberate fossil fuel interference they were more accurately “derailed opportunities” and a “derailed decade”.

If the fossil fuel industry does not want to be mentioned in the COP texts then they shouldn’t be allowed to attend the event either. My 2 cents.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

A comprehensive rundown of the #COP30 shenanigans from @roycerk2.bsky.social. From what I saw, the Colombians were the only ones whose negotiators and civil society groups were on the same page, and they carried the whole world on their shoulders.

It's the last day of COP30.
I'd be honoured if you'd take a moment to look through my latest missive on the topic of Canada's 180 on climate.
If you consider it worth sharing, please do.

Alt title: The Hypocrisy in having Value(s)

Carney’s calamitous course causes consternation at climate conference
Canada arrived at COP30 with empty hands, expressly moving backwards on almost every climate policy we’ve put in place since Paris.

Agree. I strongly believe that using AI to summarize information is a strong form of outsourcing your thinking.

Summarization is crystallizing your thoughts, and -- at least for topics you are still trying to learn -- you can't afford to let an LLM do that in your stead.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.
